  1. For the healing process I’d recommend salt baths! They really help! I’ve only had the initial OB so far but they seemed to dry up the blisters quickly. Also try and make sure to take multivitamins and vitamin c daily. Maybe try some exercises to help relieve anxiety? Trust me I have horrible anxiety and I also have trouble falling asleep so I downloaded this app that has a bunch of lovely sounds I listen too and it’s amazing!
  2. Salt baths help a lot in healing process! It may burn for like the first minute but it works! Along with antivirals and making sure to keep that area dry.
  3. How was your initial OB and did it involve salt baths too? Lol
  4. @reanthony1 my gynecologist told me that, hope I have none going further. But everybody is different
  5. @reanthony1 it definitely is an eye opener! My bf didn’t even knew he had it and he gave it to me. It will get better with time for sure. I haven’t had a second outbreak yet and I’m praying I won’t have another one for a long time cause the initial OB was a nightmare! I was taking salt baths 3-5 times a day and even in the middle of the night since the itching and irritation always woke me up. Also I used a hair dryer instead of a towel to dry off cause I could not touch that area period!
  6. Hi! I’m fairly new to ghsv1 like 2 months new! I’ve been depressed since then but I feel as if with time it is getting better! I’m not sure if you’re religious or not but turning to God has helped me get through this! My bf gave me ghsv1 while performing oral. You’re not alone in this so don’t lose hope! Keep your head up and continue doing those things you love!
  7. Hello everyone, I’m new to having hsv 1 a couple months now and haven’t really found out my triggers yet. I think one is alcohol though I’ve been picking up vodka and Malibu rum every weekend just because it gets me away from reality for a little bit and relaxes me. Although today, I’ve noticed I’m very itchy and red down there which I’m sure an OB is coming. Can anyone tell me what triggers you all may have experienced to cause an OB?
  8. That’s me too! I had a lesion specifically on my clit so post symptoms was tingling on that area and it did tickle. My first outbreak was absolutely horrible I think I had like 13 lesions total. I was taking salt baths 3 times a day and walking around in a dress with no panties cause nothing could touch that area! I also used a hair dryer to dry off
  9. I have hsv1 and it does leave red areas where the outbreak was. At least for me it did. I’ve only had the primary outbreak and it’s been 2 months ago.
  10. Yeah that was me too! The tingling and itchiness was still there for a couple weeks. Sometimes I still get the occasional tingle.
  11. I had dry eyes and nausea when I took Valtrex during my first outbreak. I was on 500 mg 2x a day for 10 days. I still have dry eyes and it’s 2 months since first OB and I’m not on Valtrex for suppression or anything!
  12. Also I just started nursing school in January and was thinking about dropping out I’ve been so down. But I’m not going to let H define me ever! Thank you for this! I really needed this inspiration before clinical rotations this morning!
  13. I really should try suppression therapy. Have you tried it and will it take these symptoms away?!
  14. I’m extremely new to having hsv1 genitally. Being diagnosed beginning of January I also had a UTI along with my first outbreak and was on antibiotics and antiviral meds. The day after I stopped antibiotics I felt like my UTI was back! Burned when I peed and hurt as well as my clitoris having these tingling spasms. But it was not my UTI back it was the virus that messed with the nerves. I have experienced tons of itching and soreness down there for the first few weeks and every so often it tingles and itches but not as bad! I’m still suffering from flu like symptoms such as headaches and red dry eyes
  15. Hi all, It’s been 2 months having been diagnosed with genital hsv1. I’ve been having a really difficult time dealing with the news. My bf I’ve been dating for almost a year gave it to me by oral sex and he didn’t even know he had hsv1. The first outbreak was absolutely horrific and I hope to never experience that pain ever again! It came with flu like symptoms, low grade fever and was very very tired! Now that my outbreak is healed I’m still feeling flu like symptoms just without the fever! I have headaches off and on, burny and dry eyes and just feeling very depressed, my dr blames it on allergies. I was reading on lysine and vitamin c and was wondering how well that works?! I feel like I just need some positivity and only my close family and bf knows. I have major anxiety in general and the diagnoses is making it worse!
