  1. An update...wife got tested. She also has herpes!! Means that one of us had it before the relationship (7years ago). Neither of us have active break outs (recently) We cried, we laughed, we loved and we’ve moved on!! We now know and we are looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together - with our little secret!! I encourage everyone, recent or newly diagnosed to not let this define you! We’ve lived with it for 7 years and we’ve never been stronger!
  2. Hi, Thanks for the support. My wife views the whole thing as a skin rash that most people have. She doesn’t buy in to all the stigma surrounding it, which has been so relieving to hear. I’ve also only ever had 1 outbreak, that I can recall, so it’s never been an issue. Ignorance is bliss. I wish I’d never had the test done! It’s amazing having the support from her and everyone on here, I hope everyone else finds the support they need! Thanks
  3. Hi I have a similar story. For the past 10 years I have had yearly thumb infections, very painful and pussy taking 3-4 weeks to heal. Only ever came around when I was very stressed or run down. I’m only 29 and recently married. In the last 6 months I’ve got married, bought a house and have an extremely stressful job - project manager for new vessels. Lots of sleepless nights. Last few weeks I’ve had pain in thumb and some small pimples on thigh so went to doctor. I’ve also, for as long as I can remember, had painless pimples appear around inner thigh and Punic area but never gave it a second thought. Doctor finally suggested an igg test. IGG came back at 14 for hsv2!!! Very shocked. Could I have had very minor out breaks and not realised? Not sure what the 14 means? New / old? When I was younger (17-20) I was promiscuous and I’ll informed Wife is getting tested this week - I’m crushed Thanks
  4. Hi Recently had an igg test, doctor suggested this after 7-8 years of back and forth for reoccurring infection in thumb and various small pimples on inner thigh. Doctor always assumed diabetes or general skin condition. IGG result came in at index 14 positive for hsv2. Pretty shocked however after doing a lot of research my symptoms were classic of herpes, I just never realised and my doctor was obviously not well informed. Can anyone tell me what index 14 indicates? My doctor was pretty useless. I spoke with a private herpes specialist through zavamed and he informed me the high index indicates strong antibody presence. Can anyone confirm this? Or any similar stories? Thanks
  5. Hi Thanks for the support. My wife has done her research and is being very supportive. We got married because we love each other so she’s said if I have it and she doesn’t then she can live with the risk. Our doctor told us that only up to 5% of people with this actually get OBS? Does that sound right? Majority of people will never know they have it due to no obvious signs.
  6. Hi, For the past 10 years I’ve experienced terrible outbreaks on my thumb which did spread to my index finger once, only occurring when I’ve been stressed or run down. The doctors couldn’t figure it out and last week, after reading some papers I decided to get an igg test. It came back positive for hsv2. I haven’t experienced an outbreak around my genitals. Have you had an igg test? It may be worth getting one. C
  7. Hi I’ve just been diagnosed (yesterday!) with hsv2. Pretty scary and I’m also married - been with wife for 7 years but never unfaithful. Was tested because of infection in my hand but turned out to be herpes! Question is my igg came back at 14. Doctor said because it was so high it’s likely I’ve had the infection for a long time! Igm was negative?! All totally new and scary! Wife is going to be tested this week! Thanks
  8. Hi I’ve recently (this week) been diagnosed with hsv2. I think I’ve had this for some time but I didn’t realise. I’d love someone to talk to as I don’t know anyone with this and it’s scary. I’m in a committed marriage (6 years) and my wife has been so understanding (she hasn’t been tested yet). I’d love to talk to anyone in a similar situation! I live in the uk but email would be great! Gender or age doesn’t matter! I just want someone to open up to and hopefully we can help one another! Wishing you all the best
  9. Hello, Sorry to hear about your situation. How did everything turn out? I’m in the same situation now, I’m married and I’ve just been diagnosed but I’ve never had an OB part from in my thumb. I was shocked to find out. My wife is getting tested this week but given she has never a noticeable outbreak either we weren’t sure if it was best to just leave and carry on as usual?! Wishing you all the best! C
  10. Hello, I’ve been with my partner for 6 years and I’ve just been diagnosed with hsv2, I’ve never had a visible outbreak but occasionally have small bumps around the thigh area which I thought were harmless. My igg came back at 14 for hsv2. I’m led to believe that such a high index is linked to an established virus. Both my partner and I have never been unfaithful. This is causing a lot of stress. My partner will be tested this week. How did you husband react and was he negative after all this time? Wishing you the best! C
  11. Hello, I’m recently married (3 months ago - with my wife for 6 years prior). We’ve both always been faithful however I had an igg test last week as I’d been having reoccurring infections in my thumb, which only seemed to come around when I was run down or very stressed. Over the last 7-8 years I’ve been getting this infection 1-2 times per year. Ive also had, what I thought were, I grown hairs around the boxer short area but no obvious OBs. My igg, hsv2 specif, test came back positive with an index of 14. The doctor told me because it was so high it indicated an existing infection and because the count was so high was the reason I’ve probably not had an OB. I’m so stressed now and told my wife, she will be tested this week but I’m terrified she is going to leave me. She has already said that she doesn’t mind if I have it and she has an incling she may have it already due to some unusual bumps she notices over the years but wrote off as itchy underpants. Does anyone have any advice? I’ve just started my married life and we want children next year and I’m now terrified Charlotte will not get past this if she is negative. Thank you in advance C
