  1. God is not punishing you. This is a very common issue and it happens to alot of people. You are not alone in this. Herpes is a skin condition that is almost always transmitted through skin to skin contact, so I am not sure about picking it up on anything else. This is a virus, just like the cold or flu. It does not alter the person you are or ever have been. For me, I had to change my mindset about this. Focusing on what I do have and all the blessings in my life, rather than focusing on a not so bad skin condition has helped tremendously.
  2. I was recently diagnosed with hsv2 a month ago and yes at first absolutely devastated. I have a choice though to let it destroy me or make it an opportunity to love myself that much more and make me a stronger, better person. The stigma of herpes is far more worse than the actual virus. It is ultimately a skin condition first that happens to be transmitted sexually. My first job was to accept that I have this by looking in the mirror and saying "I have Herpes" and telling myself that I am just as beautiful and amazing as ever. The fear of rejection is what affected me most, but I will use it as an oppurtunity to show my character and in all honesty if a man loves me for me and wants to be in my life than he will not give a damn and I promise that. I have to change myself and how I look at things while dealing with this. It is so common and you are not alone! Best of luck to you. Be brave.
  3. I guess I am really confused on my test results. I have been celibate for about 2 years and have never once had a noticeable outbreak. I had unprotected sex on May 4th and 2 days later got a discharge that changed 3 times, 2 sores and flu like symptoms. For about 2 weeks I was so fatigued, irritable, night sweats and even broke out in a rash on my arm (not sure if that even relates to this). I decided to go to the doctor on May 23rd which was 19 days after possible exposure. My results came back positive for IGG with a value of 13 and also positive for IGM with a value of 1.1. I have read that those IGM tests are not the most accurate in because they are not type specific and with the herpes virus they can show up with recurring outbreaks. I also am not sure if 19 days is enough time for IGG antibodies to show up. I am not sure if I was carrying this and just had my first outbreak or if I was recently exposed. Does anyone have any feedback?

  5. Kp07 why do you think you have just been a carrier. That is what I am trying to figure out. Did you have flu symptoms with your first outbreak?
