  1. Hey, absolutely no one is a saint!!!! Don’t be so hard on yourself for that. No one should throw stones either, so don’t let them. Have you tried daily antivirals?
  2. Well I have had it for five years, at least that’s how long ago I was diagnosed, and I have been on daily suppression for a year now. Didn’t take it daily before that because I was married and my husband wasn’t concerned with it. With a new partner now and take it to help protect him really. I only had two outbreaks and those were in the first year but never had any more after that even not taking suppression. I avoid sex if I feel like an outbreak could potential he be coming, but one never comes on. I’ve read so many uplifting stories about enjoying your sex life and talk to many people who have been in successful relationships without passing it on to their partner, so I look to them for Hope and don’t let this run my life.
  3. Goodness! I’ve never had a really bad UTI with the pain and fever like that. Bless your heart!! Sounds like yours was really a kidney infection with the lower back pain. (Drink beer when that happens! Makes you pee like crazy). I just have a severe need to pee all the time, and it usually goes away with over the counter meds. Now it’s just a tiny urge, and it’s also not constant. Also came after a weekend of lots of sex haha. And we probably had sex too soon (and too many times) after I thought the UTI was gone...sure I didn’t do myself any favors there. I really don’t think mine is an outbreak, but you just never know with HSV and I want to make sure I am protecting my partner as much as possible. Plus, I’m on daily antivirals which makes me feel even more confident that it’s really just a pesky UTI that won’t go away.
  4. Had a definite UTI the week after Thanksgiving, have felt like it’s been lingering after the first couple days when the urgency to pee is so bad. Been taking a cranberry supplement, drinking a lot water, but periodically feel like it’s still lingering. No pain, no burning, just the tiny urgency. I’ve only had 2 outbreaks in 5 years and that was early on before I took antivirals daily. Could this be an outbreak or am I probably correct in thinking it’s just a lingering UTI?
  5. Yeah taking two pills a day is a pain but so much cheaper...only reason I do acyclovir instead of Valtrex. I kept Valtrex on hand in the past for when I did have an outbreak, but only took it twice so I really don’t remember side effects there. Too expensive for me to take daily now for suppression and another level of protection for my partner 😕
  6. Yeah, I only drink water like with meals and stuff, but I don’t constantly drink it throughout the day like I probably should. I downed a ton of water over the last couple of days and my eyes look normal now. Also think maybe the UTI had something to do with it.
  7. @MissRealist I had read many places that it doesn’t cause serious side effects if taking it long term unless you have other serious medical conditions, which I don’t. This morning I woke up and I don’t think my eyes look as yellow as I thought they did yesterday and the busted blood vessel (if that’s what it was) is completely gone and it hasn’t even been 48 hours. Going to call my doc anyway just for safe measure. I’d rather have blood tests to make sure everything is a-ok than be sorry! Will update this post when I know!
  8. @CleverName what did your doctor say? Did you have to go off Valtrex?
  9. Also, I feel completely fine otherwise. Woke up with a mild UTI this morning, but no big deal (quite a bit of sex over the last few days and didn’t drink enough water I’m sure). Had them before and go away in a day or two with Azo.
  10. I have been taking acyclovir daily for almost a year now to prevent outbreaks and help prevent my partner. I noticed yesterday what looks like a busted blood vessel in my eye, and today the whites of my eyes seem a bit yellow. I read the side effects and this is a sign of something serious with the liver....has anyone else ever experienced this? (Calling my doctor tomorrow btw) And if acyclovir is causing it, what else can I take? I’ve only had two outbreaks in 5 years while NOT on acyclovir, but I want to help protect my partner as much as possible.
  11. Never had sex during an outbreak, that’s for sure! Of course, haven’t had an outbreak in over a year, been on daily antivirals.
  12. Ok, what’s the truth here? Across this forum and others, everyone says herpes can only be transmitted through skin to skin contact. Then you read stuff on Google or, like in the Cosmo article I’m reading right now, that it can be passed through bodily fluids....so, when I “get wet” or have an orgasm and cum when my partner is inside me, I’m adding risk by not only touching me, but being in contact with my “juices” too??? (I’m on daily suppression and have never passed it...BUT STILL). From what I’ve read on this forum and others, I’m thinking that the bodily fluids they are referring to is the fluid inside the sores....if that’s the case, then that makes sense and article writers need to get their facts straight. Can anyone shed light?
  13. I have been taking acyclovir 400mg 3x daily since January 🙂 First time I’ve had any feelings like this since starting it.
  14. HSV2+ Female to HSV2- Male.... Is transmission to the negative partner pretty much guaranteed if the positive partner is shedding or in the prodrome stage? From everything I’ve read across different forums, it seems as though even during these stages, a man is still not highly likely to be infected due to their genitalia… Is this true? Slight burning sensation in the bikini area (thought it was just because I had shaved the night before and am sensitive and hair was trying to regrow) of the upper thigh during a couple of days when vaginal sex occurred twice… No condom use, positive female partner on daily suppression. Couple of days after sex, burning sensation still there, but not worse ( same feeling does also seem to be on the back of the leg near the buttocks), add a slight burning in the anus/butt crack area. One instance of a major tingling in mons pubis area that lasted five seconds or less. Bare shaved again night previous to this. Absolutely no visible signs of an outbreak. Am I overthinking it that the chances of transmission were really high at this time? I was well lubricated, and there was no grinding, as I’ve read doesn’t help the situation because of the friction. Partners penis was visibly clear of any cuts or breaks in the skin. Sex only occurred when the feeling at the top of the thighs has been happening, not when additional sensations occurred. And even the feeling in the thighs was not happening immediately before sex, during sex, or immediately after. Seemed to come back several hours later…
  15. Haha true, guys get itchy. I am a hypochondriac also, more so now because I don’t want to infect my partner. So every time we have sex, I freak out in my own mind for days afterward. This feeling I’ve had the last few days has made me worry the most just because it hasn’t been a quick sensation. I feel like my antivirals have always worked as they should, and now this one time that I feel funny for more than a few seconds or minutes, I’m scared to death. My partner and I have been together for 9 months almost and he’s never shown any symptoms of being infected from me. While reading the success stories of many discordant couples, I have a hard time believing I could ever be that lucky 😞
