  1. ExhaustedGirl - since being diagnosed and understanding my new symptoms, it’s constant and getting worse. I was just put on cymbalta to try and help the neuropathic pain caused by prodrome. mr_hopp - that does answer my question. Thank you! My OB site is my vulva and these sensations are all the way down to my knee. Since I sit on this pain all day, as mentioned, cymbalta was prescribed. I do t have an active OB and it still hurts. Jen44 - from my understanding, you can spread it anywhere that shares the nerve base. For example, I have had it on my face for a quarter century now and recently got a new OB spot on a different part of my face. Since they share the same base nerve that branches out, it can go anywhere that base nerve touches. Shedding occurs wherever your OBs occur, in my understanding - but I’m no MD - and the most at risk are the thinner skins which tend to be mucousal areas. However my first HSV1 site is above my eyebrow - nowhere moist at all.
  2. The oral v genital thing is bunk. Both can transmit anywhere there’s an open wound. And with the popularity of oral sex, both are showing up in both places. Hsv2 just doesn’t survive as well in the oral cavity.
  3. I definitely have milky discharge when I think I’m having an outbreak (I was just diagnosed in July and am just now getting over my second OB). Mine is wet but I wouldn’t say it’s as wet as water or milk. You could just be experiencing a bad OB (initial OB’s are the worst) and your body is flushing what it can. But definitely go to the dr and get checked out either way!
  4. HSV1 can be spread to any open wound. Hsv2 tends to not like living in the oral cavity but can. Misinformation and the taboo aspect leaves this a very misunderstood virus.
  5. I was dx w 2 this summer. I’ve had prodromal sensations all over my thighs to lower back. I’ve had 1 for 20+ years and have recently started feeling prodromal tingling in an area I’ve never experienced before. are we contagious where the tingles happen? why is it randomly showing up on the other side of my face (my OB started above my left eyebrow, and now my right side, essentially mirrored, is getting these sensations. I’ve never experienced this before.
  6. I am on suppressive therapy, I take one 500mg Valtrex every night, but missed a dose Saturday night. Today I woke up with numerous red spots. My test had come back unequivocal, so I guess I had hoped my body would fight this off. I’m itchy and depressed today. 😞 I'm really upset about this.
  7. @SeraLyn I definitely started Valtrex right away, and will continue to do so for at least 18 months. I take 2 a day for outbreaks or 1 a day for suppression therapy. I’ll probably re-test next month as that’s my 6 month std screen anyways (all sexually actively people should be screened every 6 months when not monogamous).
  8. I’ve had HSV1 since 1995 above my eyebrow. My HSV1 result is 54.60...well, I felt off and had stomach pain so I went ahead and ordered an HSV2 test on July 12 (I had other blood work I needed done and added this to my lab). The last time I’d had sex was June 29 and before that was May 29. My HSV2 came back at 0.91 and my gynoPA said she thinks she saw a small, singular bump I had was a possible blister when she did the physical on the 26th. I did have extra discharge leading up to this appointment, and mild itchiness but I figured it was a yeast infection and just got the test to quell my fears. is 0.91 a definite positive? Why does it say equivocal? I know what HSV1 is like but didn’t notice ANY similar symptoms. Me n the dude I’ve been fornicating with aren’t a couple, and he told me he went down on a girl when he went home for a week, and has one other fwb who he’s been seeing longer. Can he have gotten it orally? Will Valtrex be a part of my life forever now!?
