  1. I had nerve pain in both legs and feet for a year if that helps anyone.
  2. Hey hun, the reality is not nearly as bad as the fear. When I was 18 I was sure I had caught herpes, went to like 4 drs to get tested and was negative every time. Fast forward 5 years and I end up catching it lol. You know what, I felt bad that I wasted so much time being paranoid about it before. It's so common, and a pain in the arse (literally) but I chose to just live my life. Believe me, I'm not miss positivity and I take medication for anxiety. I'm just not going to let herpes worry me anymore.
  3. @tiredandlonely thanks for your reply. I usually get pms but this was on another level. I thought about it later and I also got a flu shot last week and I had to take care of 3 sick animals at home as well as my 2 jobs so maybe I just over taxed my body. Am thinking about going to Dr this time. I haven't done so before, but I'm wondering if I'm enduring pain for no reason lol!
  4. It gets better guys. You are not tainted. You are not the virus. You're still beautiful, worthy you.
  5. Mine have white heads. And they don't start irritating me right away. This could be an outbreak.
  6. I use a cup and I also bought some reusable pads for at night. They are really soft and comfy on your bits. If your grossed out by cleaning them I just chuck them in the shower when I warm the shower up 🙂
  7. I think you need to accept the negative results and try and move on. Maybe talk to a professional about your feelings so they can help you process them healthily. Xx
  8. Heya beautiful people, I've had herpes (don't know what type) for 15 years. I have been symptom free until the last 6 months. I have now had 2 outbreaks in the last 6 months, both have started just before my period and I have felt particularly pms'y so I'm guessing hormones are playing a part. Has anyone else experienced this? It's strange because I have had a really bad illness about 2 years ago which weakened my immune system, but I never had an outbreak during or immediately subsequent to that so I'm confused as to why I'm getting outbreaks when I'm probably the healthiest I've ever been...
  9. I don't take suppressives or alter my diet. I'm just lucky I think. I already led a generally healthy lifestyle, and make sure I keep my stress down and get lots of rest. It is one of the difficult things, not knowing what's coming. I've just recently had that outbreak and had no idea what was going on for the first week. I did have the nerve pain but I also get sciatica so I was a bit confused lol. I have educated myself quite well on herpes so I know the ins and outs pretty well. Also, just remember, you can't control when you're going to catch a cold, and you can't walk around worrying about that all the time so try not to worry too much about this either (I know, easier said than done I guess) xx.
  10. Heya, That's nerve pain! The virus gets nice and comfy in the base of your spine where the nerves for your lower back and legs etc are. My first year I had no sores but nerve pain in my back, buttocks, thighs and outside edges of my feet. I've since only had one outbreak and that has lasted 4 weeks. You're right though we're all different. I'm 11 years in.
  11. I don't know about criminality, but I know people have been sued for assault.
  12. Yeah will be too soon for bloods if it's a new infection.
  13. Yeast infection can cause white dots.i wouldn't worry about it if it can back negative.
  14. An injury (from anal) could cause a flare up. I just had an OB on my booty and I've never done anal.
  15. I caught mononucleosis last year. I'm sure with your medical background you know that this is a herpes virus. This disease caused neurological issues for about 9 months afterwards. My brother had a rare outbreak from chicken pox, another herpes virus (20 years after he had it) that resulted in encephalitis and permanent facial paralysis. Yes, bad things can happen to healthy people. Yes, herpes-all strains of it, are still somewhat a mystery to the medical community. Why point the finger at HSV1 and HSV2? Why continue the stigma when ALL herpes viruses can cause these problems? Why make people feel worse and more fearful about something that they cannot change? I had a friend who worked with genes, particularly faulty genes that caused fatal diseases. A lot of people who were at high risk for developing incurable, unpreventable, fatal diseases elected not to find out if they had the gene that would cause these diseases. Their reason, they wanted to live their best life without fear. Even the most harmless seeming diseases can have devastating results, but I for one am not going to stop living my life to avoid them.
  16. I don't think swabs can be misdiagnosed, but bloods can.
  17. A swab can't be misdiagnosed, but a blood test can.
  18. @Concernednconfused nothing wrong with taking things slow anyway. You have to be ready even in the healthiest if circumstances 🙂
  19. @bird this forum is about living with herpes, not denying you have it. Actively choosing to expose someone to illness without their consent is not fair. We are not trying to judge, we are trying to inform.
  20. Hehe that's what I was thinking. And if the person is ok with it, get on board!
  21. What can't you give to them? Are you referring to sex?
  22. The disease lives at the base of your spine. The current location of your outbreaks has nothing to do with your ability to transmit while your body is shedding the virus.
