  1. I have not gone through this experience but I am curious to know what his reaction was, if you don't mind sharing?
  2. 39 yr old female in Houston area diagnosed with 1 & 2. Wouldn't mind local support if it's out there!
  3. @EMBH01 I wish I didn't have to welcome you to this thread. Many if not all of us have felt the exact same way as you and many still do. I know it sounds cliche, but you have to think positively. You already seem to be headed in the right direction, by going to therapy. I actually would like to do the same. Know that you are not alone and you have any entire group here support. Sending blessings and good vibes your way!
  4. Hi @KarlaK! Please know that you are not alone. Are you still seeing this person? I'd just advise you to be careful if you are. It's always concerning when someone seems unconcerned about their own health. Anyways, back to you. I totally understand what you mean about the GP. I had to change mine because that was the exact attitude she reflected which I was not okay with. I recently went to see a Naturpathy Physician. She ran quite a few tests and we are waiting for results now. I'll let y'all know how to goes. I have a follow up mid April. I did a good sensitivity test, a malnutrition test and one more that escapes me at the moment. It's suppose to help drill down to whether or not there is anything else my system is fighting and what nutrients I may be lacking which ultimately weakens my immune system even more. I have hsv 1 and 2. 2 hasn't been nearly as problemsome for me as 1. I still feel like I am fighting cold sores all of the time. You need to find someone to test your canker sores as hsv can present itself that way as well, no matter what your Dr says. A lot of them severely lack knowledge surrounding this subject. As far as your baby, just be careful but don't stop loving on your baby. I have a 7 year old who LOVES to be under me and I was and still am terrified of doing the same thing. She is one of the main reasons that I take antivirals. I will admit that I don't kiss her on the lips anymore but I will never stop kissing on her. So far so good! Know that ultimately everything will be alright. Just take things one day at a time and remember that we are here if you ever need to chat!
  5. I really love to hear this! I'm still single and haven't put myself out there just yet. It's still good to know that when I'm ready that there are possibilities!
  6. Hey! I'm so glad to hear that it's smooth sailing for you so far😂😂 I think I'm going to make any appt. I'll keep you posted this time around.
  7. @PhoenixRising_009 how is this working for you? Have you continued to be outbreak free?
  8. Good luck and please keep us posted!!!! I'm almost at my breaking point. Lol
  9. @PhoenixRising_009 thanks again for the YouTube links. A couple of them are very encouraging. While youtubing them it did take me down a rabbit hole of the possibility of permanent dormancy, which they actually call cure with an alkaline diet. Does anyone have any thoughts on that by chance?
  10. I am curious about this as well. I take 1g daily for suppression but I feel like my symptoms never go away. My doctor told me to take 2g and then another 2g 12 hrs later when I feel an ob coming, but if my symptoms never go away I'm not sure how that works.
  11. I do. I would hate to get any ob out of town and not have what I need, so in my opinion it doesn't hurt to travel with it.
  12. Thank you so much for this! I will definitely check them out. I'm super curious to hear that they have to say.
  13. What immune boosting supplements do you take?
  14. Thanks for the well wishes @PhoenixRising_009. I'd say the same that some days are better than others! Just trying to find my new norm.
  15. @gorgeoustechie what doctors have you seen and which do you find to be the most informed and helpful where hsv is concerned? Would you say the functional Med doc? I've been checking for the ones in my city. I just hate that they don't accept I insurance because their consultations are pretty damn expensive.
  16. I'm still so amazed by the lack of knowledge that doctors have on this. What the number of people impacted you would think that the research would be at the top of the list for them. Someone on another post on here suggested seeing a functional medicine doctor (that's also board certified). That may be something to consider.
  17. I am so sorry to hear about the break up. I swear sometimes when it rains it pours! Try to stay positive and minimize your stress levels no matter how impossible it sounds. I tried lysine as well but I don't really know if that helped. I've decided to try and boost my immune system to see if that helps any, but it seems like a guessing game. Have you discussed the nonstop ob's with your doctor? What are they advising?
  18. Are you taking 500 mg or 1 g of valtrex daily?
  19. I'm so sorry to hear that it was so debilitating for you. Has you boyfriend tested as well?
  20. Not always. You should have it pcr swabbed if it's recent.
  21. Wait so he had these symptoms almost 2 years ago? Have them comeback since then at all? Why hasn't be been tested? You should push for that. For you, even though you have hsv1 it is still possible to contract hsv2 (if he has it, of course). Granted there are many couples that never transmit, but it is still important to know what if anything you guys are dealing with.
  22. First thing would be for him to get tested and typed if positive . If the sores are still very recent he should have them (pcr) scabbed ASAP. He can also blood test. If the swab is positive and the blood is negative that means that he may still be developing antibodies of the virus which also means it's a recent transmission. You mention that you have tested positive for cold sores which could be hsv1 or 2. Either way, it can also be transmitted through oral sex, so see it's not always that easy to pinpoint where it came from.
  23. There is no true way to pinpoint where it came from unless you take a test before and after being intimate with someone. It can also lie dormant for some time before activating in a typical format.Have you been tested?
  24. I'm going to have to look up functional medicine doctors in my area. I never truly realized until now how hard it is to find a doctor that specializes in STI's. I guess I never really needed to before🤦🏾‍♀️
