Little background about me. Divorced 4 years, began dating a lady 1 year ago. Could use some input from the community. Quite nervous. Last week I developed quite a severe pain with urination. I work in the medical profession. initially I thought it was a UTI or possible STD. Lab took an excessive amount of time with results actually never even ordering labs the first go around. Was placed on many ABX to cover possible UTI, STD. Discussed with girlfriend to get tested as well to assist with possible diagnosis. My primary care doc eventually received results from urine culture which was positive for infection- diagnosed with prostatitis. in that time frame I discussed with my doc if I could have possible HSV urethritis- was placed on Valtrex just in case. Now - my girlfriends labs come back and she is positive for HSV 1 and 2. which she never was aware of. So I am quite nervous at this time. My HSV antibody test was positive for HSV 1 and negative for HSV 2 at this time. I had stopped the Valtrex after my doc finally found out the urine cultures were positive and exam was positive for a prostatitis . I have no current or recent outbreaks of Herpes. Not sure if I should continue with Valtrex just in case and am quite nervous how to handle this.
