  1. @Flowerteacher55 thank you for your kind words it is just so hard to get my head around why the first 7 years of this virus I wasn’t experiencing outbreaks at all and I wasn’t even on anti virals and now it gets worse and worse. it’s so depressing in all honesty.. the nerve pain is daily and every health professional dismisses and says it’s not related to HSV even Terri Warren said this on her forum I paid to ask her a question I don’t have any issues getting acyclovir and valcylcvior but they aren’t working anymore and I want famvir and the doctor said ‘ I’m not willing to prescribe such an expensive anti viral without checking your skin first’ it’s like they think it is all in my head. also I live in London so the clinic I go to is well known and has several h specialists.. I have also paid privately to see a top STD doctor , she is one of the best in the country and she basically told me nerve pain isn’t related and the val at 1 gram will suppress .. well it isn’t anymore so what is going on!
  2. @The big lebowski to be honest the outbreaks are so mild it’s the nerve pain that signals to me it’s an outbreak and then I notice a small bump but it lasts nomore than 48 hours it doesn’t itch or hurt but I know it’s an outbreak cos it’s tender and the leg pain. But mentally it effects me as I feel down about It coming off birth control seemed to trigger it yes but now it’s out of control like it never has been before. Nobody can tel like why I’ve had blood tests done for everything and all is normal
  3. @Flowerteacher55 hey thanks for your reply I got the results of my general bloods yesterday and all is fine perfect actually. Only thing that was slightly low was b12 in regards to hormones I have poly cystic ovaries, I am not menopausal my blood tests yesterday included hormonal tests and they were all fine for my age ( i am 31) despite the poly cystic ovaries but I already knew about that and have done for years. I am 100 percent not pregnant my outbreaks were related to my periods but i should add they aren’t anymore and they come at various times through my cycle. I haven’t had more sex lately I am totally unable to have sex as I am not just experiencing nerve pain lately I am now getting sores weekly. So more sexual activity is not the reason for this. I live in the U.K., we have the gum clinic which is the same as planned parenthood. I have an appointment next week to discuss famvir but she is reluctant to give this to me. Also I don’t know if it’s the same in the US but jere in the U.K. doctors do not care if you get nerve pain etc unless you have visible sores they pass the pain off as something non HSV related.
  4. @The big lebowski I wish I knew! Only difference is I was on the implant birth control and didn’t have periods when I was outbreak free. They started as triggered by my periods but that’s not the case now Worst thing is I’m on antivirals now and I’ve been getting weekly outbreaks for the last month which has never ever happened before. I’ve had full bloods done for literally everything and all are fine so I honestly have no idea
  5. @The big lebowski hey I have hsv2 and have had it for a long time I didn’t have any outbreaks after my first one for 7 years so you probably do have type 2 unfortunately I am now dealing with constant attacks but everyone is different
  6. Hey I am hoping someone can help with what may be going on here cos I am at a complete loss! I have HSV2 and have done for around 14 years now. first 7 years no outbreaks at all after the horrific first one. Around 2015/16 I started getting monthly outbreaks around my period I didn’t take any suppression for almost two years and just treated episodically. 2018 I started suppression at first ayclocivior and have also been on 1gram valtrex… I started getting chronic nerve pain around this time, the anti virals stopped the outbreaks but did nothing for the nerve pain. fast forward to now my outbreaks are going absolutely crazy I have had 6 outbreaks since 5th July and they are coming weekly, most time I’ve had in between with no outbreak has been 10 days. And I am on suppression. This has never happened to me before even when not on suppression let alone when on it. ive had blood work done an tests for all other STDS including HIV spyphillis and hep c all of which has come back negative. I am waiting the results of a general health blood screening also. The only anti viral I haven’t tried is famvir but from what I’ve read if valtrex isn’t helping me then this is unlikely to help? What could be going on here? I haven’t changed my diet, not under any extra stress I don’t get it
  7. Hi it was when I was on birth control that I didn’t have any outbreaks i will look at re testing thanks
  8. @Flowerteacher55 hey again .. we have similar to planned parenthood it is called the GUM clinic. I did have a swab taken years ago and was told it was positive for HSV2 but I don’t know if they actually just assumed that as it was on my genitals or if they actually tested it for 1 and 2 aswell. the blood tests check for antibodies for both strains mine came out high positive for HSV1 and a low positive for HSV2. If your results are under 3.5 for HSV2 (mine were 2.1) they recommend retesting. I have never had a coldsore which is why I don’t think the HSV1 result is from a oral infection. The only change between in those 7 years till now is I was on birth control and didn’t have periods.. that is the only change I can think of
  9. Hello @Flowerteacher55 thanks for your reply the fact that I didn’t have OBs for 7 years aligns with HSV1 however why for the last few years they have been quite frequent suggests HSV2 so I am confused. it was a private company the NHS do not offer blood tests for HSV in the U.K.. i asked for the index numbers which you don’t really need a doctor to interpret for you tne test looks for antibodies for both types .. I know I had a low positive result for HSV2 and a high positive for HSV1
  10. Hey so I was diagnosed visually no swab taken with what I thought was HSV2 13 years ago. I had an awful first OB and then no OBs at all for 7 years. Then around year 8 I started getting mild OBs around my period I put up with this for 2 years and then went on suppression. I had to have an ob swabbed to be given suppression and I was told this was Hsv2. I have other vaginal Issues such as excema that was diagnosed about two years ago, these symptoms can mimic HSV so im Never really sure what is a OB and what isn’t. I am U.K. based and out of curiosity decided to pay for a antibodies blood test and the results have really confused me. Results were HSV1 31.2 HSV2 2.1 I am 31 and have never had a coldsore in my Life and I am 100 percent on this . I am aware from researching that anything under 3.5 is In the low positive range and requires retesting to confirm. I have spoken to the herpes association helpline and another ‘expert’ On a similar website like this one who both said it seems I actually have HSV1 genitally and the low positive could be from a cross reaction.. apparently this is common in patients with a high HSV1 result. if this is the case why was I told my swab was type 2 ? I have read anti virals can affect the results but wouldn’t this effect the results for both types and not just 2? I know a WB is really the only way to find out for sure here but I am not able to get one in the U.K. I am not disputing I have HSV as I have had very typical outbreaks in the past but I am now not sure what type.. I have read genital to genital transmission of HSV1 is very low so if I do have 1 I guess it would make my mind a bit more at ease. what would you make of these results ? That I have GHSV1?
