  1. I was prescribed valocyclovir to be taken as needed whenever an outbreak occurs. I've heard there are also medications that you can take daily to prevent outbreaks. Why would I not just be immediately put on the daily medication? Are there strong risks or side effects that come with it? It just sounds so much better to not constantly worry about whether or not I'm having an outbreak.
  2. For the past few weeks I have been experiencing cloudy and smelly urine. I figured it was a UTI and would go away on its own, but it still hasn't. Also last night, I began bleeding vaginally during sex and have been spotting since then. I'm certain it's not just my period because I'm on the pill and shouldn't be getting my period for 2 more weeks. I have no idea if maybe these symptoms could somehow be related to the fact that I have herpes? I don't think they are but I'm worried and searching for answers.
  3. I'm not really sure why I'm sharing my story, I guess it just feels good to get it out. For a long time I had only ever had sex with two people, both of which were serious long-term relationships. I had been with my most recent ex for over three years but the relationship became stale and boring. In the two weeks immediately after breaking up with him, I slept with six different people just because I wanted to feel free and do something I had never done before. I'm not even completely sure who gave me herpes. I thought I knew but the more I think about it, it could have been any of them. None of them disclosed to me that the had herpes and most of them were just hookups with no communication afterward. I always used condoms but I know there's still a slight risk or I could have gotten it from receiving oral sex too. I just feel so unlucky that the first time I tried dating around I was immediately punished, when so many people have had many many more sexual partners than me.
  4. Hey everyone, I haven't been able to find a clear answer to this question and am hoping you can help. I have genital herpes and think I might be having an outbreak because the area was feeling a bit sensitive. I've only ever had one outbreak before so I'm not sure what to expect but there are no visible symptoms, just a bit of tenderness. I have antiviral meds that I am supposed to take whenever I have an outbreak and have been taking them for the past 5 days. My partner also has herpes but didn't get it from me and is completely asymptomatic. I only have genital herpes, not oral herpes. Based on all of this information, do any of you know if it's safe for me to kiss my partner right now?
