  1. Thank you so much for this, WSCDancer. Super helpful. I have just ordered the alum, and will try out your suggestions. Blessings your way, <3
  2. Hello dear H Opportunity community, I am recovering from a significant genital outbreak of HSV1 that I contracted about a year ago, and am seeking some info as to remedies. WSCDancer, I just read your tips on self-help relief from outbreaks, here: http://supporttruthanddialog.com/easy-simple-self-help-tips-for-relief-from-herpes-outbreaks/ I have yet to try drying out the sores and going commando. :-) Thank you for that suggestion. Among your self-help tips, you also mention taking anti-virals within 72 hours of the outbreak. And yet, I have read elsewhere that Acyclovir may not be helpful for HSV1. Do you have any insight as to what antivirals work well with type 1? Also, about topical solutions.... With this outbreak, I've been applying a DermaE cream that contains tea tree oil, oregano oil, and Vitamin E, then covering up with underwear and clothing. I am wondering, if indeed drying it out is the best way to go, if it may be best to forgo the cream? Lastly, while I know HSV1 generally tends to flare up less than type 2, I'd say that I've had about 3 minor outbreaks, and 3 significant ones (including the original OB) in the year since I contracted genital HSV1. I want to mention, in case it's helpful to others who are learning about HSV1, that the reason that I have had more outbreaks may be that I have autoimmune hypothryoidism, an immune condition I've had since I was a child. Thanks for any insight you can offer regarding anti-virals and to-cream-or-not-to-cream. Thank you! Bodylover
  3. Adrial and WCS Dancer, I really appreciate your care and thoughtfulness in these posts. My body feels relieved to know there are such beautiful, calm, thoughtful, and loving people out there in the world. Thank you for all that you do. <3
  4. Thanks so much for your responses, dear ones. I appreciate your help and insight. I will go ahead and get a pap, and let you know what happens. Blessings to y'all...
  5. Hello there, About a decade ago, I had a couple of abnormal pap smears which resolved themselves, and so assumed I had HPV. Then, just a few months ago, I was diagnosed with genital herpes 1, which I contracted from my partner who -- like most folks -- has oral herpes 1. Now, about a couple months later, small bumps have appeared on my partner's penis. He went to the doctor, and found out they are genital warts, caused by HPV. He has never had genital warts before. This strikes me as awfully uncanny timing. I am inclined to think that my new herpes virus has somehow stimulated my old HPV virus, and that this is what has caused him to get warts. My guess is that he was likely already exposed to HPV -- as he is in his 50s -- but that perhaps my HPV viral load is particularly high now due to some interaction with the herpes virus? I'm wondering if I should get a pap smear. I'm not due for another year, but if indeed my HPV is acting up, it would probably be smart to get checked. Anyone ever heard of something like this or have any insight? Thank you!
  6. Dear Herry and West Coast Dancer, Thank you SO much for your time and very thoughtful responses. This is such a gift to me -- it feels so supportive and caring, and helps me to feel not alone in this. Thank you, both of you, truly. If I'm getting the two of you correctly, what you're saying is that herpes has the greatest chance of being spread to another person or around one's own body if a) the other person is in that 10-20% of the population that has not been exposed, or b) if you have just acquired the virus, and have not yet built up antibodies to it. In other words, once I or a sexual partner have built up antibodies, we are less likely to acquire the virus in a different place than our original sites of outbreak. This is very helpful information, as it suggests that, so long as any future sexual partners have HSV-1 orally, and have had it for years (which is likely, as I'm in my mid-30s and seek partners the same or older), then they are unlikely to contract the virus genitally. I'm getting you here, right?
  7. Hi there H Opportunity Community, First off, I want to say how thankful I am to you, Adrial, for creating this community and helping to reframe the hype around herpes from one of paranoia to one of self-love and care for ourselves and our relationships. That feels so, so good, and I thank you. I was recently diagnosed with genital HSV 1 - via a blood test and swab - and have a few questions to help get myself oriented to life with this. I appreciate any and all insight and feedback folks can offer! 1) My partner who has oral HSV 1 (like most folks) passed the virus on to me genitally. What are the chances of me passing the virus back to my partner genitally? Any info about the rates of genital transmission of genital HSV-1 to folks who have oral HSV-1? 2) Any info about the rates of genital transmission of genital HSV-1 to folks who *don't* already have it orally? (That 10-20% of the population who, like me, were not already carriers?) 3) Towels. Do I need to get a separate towel for my face? Is there a risk of me passing HSV-1 to my face if I dry my crotch first, then my face, in the shower? 4) Chocolate and nuts. I was *really* bummed to hear about chocolate having a high concentration of arginine, and that it should be avoided. I love chocolate, and can't imagine life without it. I mean, really... I'm already on an uber-restricted diet: no dairy, gluten, sugar, or red meat, and am having a hard time imagining giving up nuts (which I eat daily, particularly almond butter), and stevia-sweetened chocolate which is *such* a treat. Any info on the necessity of cutting out chocolate and nuts with HSV-1? Is this imperative? Much gratitude in advance to you for your time and care in responding. Here here to community, shameless loving, and empowering each other with shared knowledge.
