  1. Great story. Being honest like that can be scary, but it is definitely the right thing to do. Best of luck to you both.
  2. Hello misskelly, I am on my phone right now, I am sure others will beable to post the links here in a bit. First off, just breathe. Take this one step at a time. The purpose of being on it everyday for your first year is to control or help control future outbreaks, while building anti-bodies to help fight it. If you dont have any outbreaks that first year, the doctor will more then likely reduce the dosage you have to take. Its going to be hard to tell about future outbreaks as everyone is different. We all have different triggers, learning yours is going to be the hard part.. what triggers mine may not trigger one for you. Everyone has different ways for suppressive treatment. I do not take mine everyday. I have had the same 90day bottle since july last year. If I feel an outbreak coming I will take them for about a week straight. However, if I was in a relationship I would just take it everyday to help protect my partner. I am on limited time right now, I will type more later, I hope this little bit helped some. It will be ok.
  3. Do you mind if I share your post on another site Herry? I think others could benefit from this. If yes, I will definitely put this website as a reference for others who seek more information.
  4. Ive been in military for almost 9 years and I can tell you.its not going to stop you from getting in. Basic training is not as bad as theywelfare think it is, its just a mind game. I would disclose to your doctor at meps, make sure u can take meds with you, HIPPA will prevent him or her from saying anything. If that doctor says anything to someone and uses your name thats a breach of hippa..Your drill instructor/sergeant can not say anything either.. if they did thats ucmj actions.., a lot can fall under ucmj. Not saying they wont talk, but you need to be aware of what you can do and aa a soldier to protect yourself. You should be fine though, there are a lot of good people in the military that will do their best to look out for you. Little quote from the creed of the non-commissioned officer all ncos should know but a lot forget: "Competence is my watch word. My two basic responsibilities will always be uppermost in my mind, the accomplishment of my mission and the __welfare____ of my soldiers........I know my soldiers and I will always place their needs above my own". Anyways, it will not prevent you from joining at all. If they try and say otherwise, let me know, I know a few people in high places that might beable to rectify that if it comes up. Hope this helped some.
  5. Hello steven, It is all about accepting yourself first mate. This does not change who you are as a person. A woman will see your personality, how you act, how you hold yourself, your demeanors, and everything else she might like about you before she even finds out about your status. If she is already interested in you based off her perceptions about you, take the time to get to know her then. Physical part of a relationship is just that, physical. If you take the time to get to know someone, when you are intimate it is more than just sex. So, if you can build up that attraction first, give her the facts, and she stays, you know she is there for more than just the physical aspect. With one night stands, you are putting yourself at risk there too, even before you found out about your H+ status. You have the risk of catching something else with one night stands, and the worst thing of them all is (getting her pregnant) all for just a one night stand, and then you would have a baby to take care of with a woman you just wanted to hook up with. There are risks in everything we do in life, and having Herpes is a grain of sand compared to the grand scheme of all the dangers in life. You could die going to work from a vehicle accident, go to sleep and not wake up, have a pulmonary embolism, heart attack, stroke, lose an arm, leg, or both. I could go on and on, but I'm sure you see where I am going with this. Your dating life is not over. I understand the human nature of just wanting to hook up and never see that person again, but if anything, and a lot of people here have plenty of success stories to share, this will help you weed out the ones who just want to get with you, compared to those who want to be with you. As far as if girls being accepted from guys easier than guys being accepted from girls, I would wait for some of the other people on here to share insight on that. Its all about education, and it is our job to help get rid of the stigma. Herpes has been linked back as far as 400-300 BC, and it was never that big of a deal until somewhere around 1960's when the stigma came into place (someone correct me if I am wrong on when it started). Just keep your head up, and keep asking questions, learning, talk about; like I said, this is only a minute aspect of the grand scheme we call life.
  6. Unfortunately no I do not. I have an A.A.S. I was going to school for PT, but decided 6 more years of school was not what I wanted right now. So, I changed my field to nursing, as I have always been interested in it. I am an MP in the military, so completely different job. I started the RN, associates, September last year and I will be done February 2015. From the research I've done, I should be able to get my BSN within 10 months of graduating this program... A lot of work yes, and pharmacology is going to kick my ass lol, as I do not have that much knowledge here compared to the LPN's in the class, Just doing AM care in clinical's for now. Cannot wait for medsurge. Good luck to you on your BSN, we will always be able to find a job in this field. Not sure how much you know about this, but once I get more experience, I want to go to another country like Ireland, Germany, UK, Australia, Greenland, somewhere...and work in their local hospitals, as an American contract job type thing, on a work visa. I think it would be awesome to live somewhere like that for a year and gain experiences of other cultures and still work as an RN.
  7. @Ral515 yes I am :). Finished my associate last may. Working toward RN now. Have a year left. Enjoying it so far, fun clinical experiences.
  8. On my first OB I did not exercise until it was gone, just had no motivation too. So if its your first I can understand completely...just give it time, dont rush it. You will beable to get back in the swing of it.
  9. I have not let this stop me from exercising at all. I workout couple times aweek. Even if I have prodrome I still go. Like everyone has said, everyones trigger is different. For me, the gym is a stress relief, so I feel its lowering my potential outbreaks or prodrome. Like fitgirl said, dont let this keep you from exercise, if anything it could possibly reduce the OB potential.
  10. Congrats on the cert. I want to work ER once I finish school.
  11. This is a weird one... but I am grateful those evil girl scout mint chocolate chip cookies....those things are so freaking addictive. I am also grateful for every day that I am alive, giving me the opportunity to do something good everyday for someone else.
  12. Ok you may not find this funny, but science humor can be. So hrre it goes. I was gonna tell a joke about sodium, but I said Na :) Heres a cheesy science pick up line lol. Hey girl, are you made of 11 electrons? Because you are sodium fine. Hope that makes you feel better some.
  13. Hey victoria, I had my wisdom teeth taken out all at one time, I know it sucks. It does put stress on the body like dancer said, just make sure when you eat you keep your oral cavity clean, flush it out after every meal to avoid dry socket. That should help ease some stress on the body. I had my tonsils taken out in December, rest and hydration helped me not get an OB then. try to avoid heavy, chuncky food, makes cleaning socket harder. Hope you feel better.
  14. Im with herry on this. Once payday hits, can definitely make some donations
  15. Interesting facts. So I have a question now Adrial. Based off the 1-4% range you just shared, why is there more of a chance of guy to girl transmission, than girl to guy? And is that pie chart for oral? or just sexual interaction in general?
