  1. @WCSDancer2010 can we put this thread under a Important Info section if there isn't this info already? I realize I'm in the minority of people who get a false positive, but it would have helped me early on if I knew there was a real chance I had a false positive. None of the medical "professionals" I dealt with knew about it. Everyone said I had H and I would always have it regardless of future tests. Damn it feels good to know they were wrong!
  2. I got the negative Western Blot for HSV1 and HSV2 call on Halloween. I'm sorry I didn't update everyone sooner. I've been under the weather the past few days. While I was very relieved, I had come to a point where I really didn't think I had H. I'm glad I got the test done all the same. The doctor I spoke with was very nice by the way (at $5 a minute, they should be). It was totally worth it, and I cannot encourage you enough to get a Western Blot test performed if you have not actually experienced an outbreak. I would also argue you should get one anyway since we can mistake other things for H outbreaks. Anyway, I am truly blessed and have learned so much about myself and H of course in the past 6 months. Thank you all again for your support during this trying time.
  3. Thank you both for your input. I feel more encouraged now :) I have not heard an update yet, but I will let you know when I do.
  4. This past Monday, 10/20, I had the blood drawn for the HSV2 Western Blot test and sent to the Westover Heights clinic. The doctor I spoke with at Westover said it could take up to three weeks to get the results back, but she said she would call me and let me know. So I'm hopeful this will confirm I don't have it, but I'm trying to look on the bright side either way. Thank you all for your guidance and kindness. I will let you know what happens and hopefully I'll have some very good news for you soon!
  5. Thank you so much Dancer. I have felt very irrational and upset about this all day. I did finally call the clinic and have an appointment to talk to a doctor there next week about getting the Western Blot test. Do you think I should wait to get the test done given yesterday's possible exposure or should I just go for it now? I just want to be sure it is accurate and didn't know if I should wait a certain amount of time or if that's just more irrational fear. Thank you for your kinds words and patience. I know I'm high maintenance!
  6. Does taking Valacyclovir affect the accuracy of a Western Blot HSV2 test? Thank you!
  7. Thank you @seeker. She was having an anal outbreak last week, but she had been on valacyclovir for 2.5 days and said it had cleared up. She has had HSV2 for many years, so it's not like it is a recent infection either. Yes, I certainly did wash my hands before touching myself after. @havefaith427 and @WCSDancer2010, what are your thoughts?
  8. @seeker's comment from the duplicate (sorry for the confusion everyone): was she having an OB? did you wash your hands before touching yourself anywhere? im no expert but at worse ( and its a long shot given what you said) you could get whitlow, maybe. but if she wasn't having an OB, is on suppressives and you had no cuts im guessing your fine. you certainly wouldn't get genital H2 from it. I think its havefaith who has whitlow and im sure dancer has more info. heck im not even sure if its the same herpes at the moment and not a different species.
  9. Thank you inka. She didn't touch herself at all. I forgot to mention other details. She did have an outbreak last week and started taking valacyclovir. She said she felt better these past few days. Also her outbreaks are anal and we stuck to vaginal only. I know it was bad. I shouldn't have done anything sexually yet. I can't be involved with someone until I know my own status for sure.
  10. Hey everyone, I haven't been on for awhile. I've been really busy with my work lately. My status is currently uncertain. I have had 1 positive HSV2 test and 1 negative HSV2 test after that. I still need to get a Western Blot as Dancer recommended, but I haven't made that call yet. I've been seeing a woman who is genital HSV2 positive. We've been holding off on getting intimate until I get the Western Blot test done. She is very respectful of my situation. Well, tonight things got physical for the first time. We ended up dry humping (with our clothes on), but I put my finger inside her vagina. My hand doesn't have any cuts I'm aware of. She also stroked my penis with her hand. I didn't think there was any risk of transmission with any of this, but I ended up googling it and found some mixed results. So I decided to pose the question to you, the real experts. Do I need to be worried about this? I feel very bad about this. I wasn't ready and caught up in the moment. I hope I'm overreacting here, but I still have to ask the questions to be responsible. Thank you for your time!
  11. Wow, 40%?!? Why didn't the nurses and doctors bother to tell me that? Or suggest a Western Blot since this last test was so different?
  12. The other thing is maybe I had just been overly aggressive with extra curricular activities in that area, and it just needed a break. There's been an awful lot of stress in my life too the past 4 months and really a lot the last 2 years if I'm honest. At the very least, this experience has taught me a lot and changed my perspective on the world. I tried to be grateful for things before, but now I feel like I really am grateful for my blessings; I don't have to try. Whether I have HSV2 or not, I am truly fortunate.
  13. Thank you Dancer. My number from the earlier test was: HSV 2 Glycoprotein G Ab 2.78 IV H I think the H was for "high" perhaps. IV stands for "Index Value". The range is listed as: < 0.90 IV NEGATIVE 0.90-1.10 IV EQUIVOCAL > 1.10 IV POSITIVE This time around, my level was just reported as "<0.91 index". Also, the doctor switched labs they use; I know that shouldn't matter, but made me a little suspicious.
  14. @seeker, thank you for the response. Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. I just got a negative test result on a full STD panel including IgG HSV2! So I have a few questions that I wasn't sure to trust the nurse on. See my new post here: http://herpeslife.com/herpes-forum/discussion/4339/lab-results-all-negative-now-what The urethra pain seems to be improving and is basically gone at this point. I'm not sure about the kidney stones. I guess it is possible, but the other symptoms didn't match up and the doc didn't mention it. I'll add another update if it changes.
  15. I had my IgG HSV2 test positive on April 21st this year. I just got retested for everything last Friday (September 12th). Everything came back negative including HIV (whew!). They used something called HIV 1/O/2 Abs-Index Value for the HIV test. I looked it up on the testing lab's website, and it referred to Immunochemiluminometric assay (ICAM). I've read several sites where people comment this is accurate within 3 months. Still other sites say to get tested again in 6 months, but I don't know if that is only for certain HIV tests. My doctor says this is conclusive, and that I don't need to be tested again, but I don't know if I trust him sadly. So the IgG HSV2 test also came back negative. I didn't even register a measurable level apparently. The nurse said that just meant it is dormant since I tested IgG HSV2 positive back in April when this all started. So my understanding is I have HSV2 (somewhere), but I have not had any conclusive outbreaks, so not sure where it is. Is she correct or should I get some other kind of test? Thank you for your help as always friends!
