  1. Well, I was found positive for HSV-1 last year but it looks like it's spread to my genitals. Thanks for all this great info Dancer.
  2. Hey Folks, Can anyone recommend a dating site for us positive peeps? It's not my only route and I date outside of that of course but I think it would actually be nice to find someone who shares the same battle. Who understands. Anyway, I tried Possitive Singles last year and actually went on one date but I hated the way the site worked. I look forward to hearing our thoughts.
  3. I've been taking 1000mg of Lysine per day and I can't say I've seen any real results either way. If anything, I feel like I'm red and tingly all the time as I have HSV-1 orally and genitally. My face is almost always itchy and really oily. I wonder if the Lysine is the problem?? Just started taking olive leaf too. Part of me feels like it's all nonsense. If the virus wants to come out and play, it does.
  4. Wow! Thanks Herry! This is great info, thanks so much!
  5. Yeah, I've never really been one for doctors but I think that's what I have to do. Thanks!!
  6. Hey Everyone! This is a wonderful support site for herpes. I joined a year a go but hadn't posted in awhile. I was found positive for HSV-1 a little over a year ago and after some mild herpes outbreaks, I dismissed it all together. I just figured there's nothing too bad about the occasional cold sore but over the last 8 months I've been experiencing some very odd symptoms and I can't tell if they are related to herpes. I should start out by saying that my herpes has now spread to my genitals, what a bummer. As far as my symptoms go, I have never gotten multiple painful sores that most people describe, mine are more like small pimples and only one or two and they don't hurt at all. What I am dealing with is this hot, tingly, burning feeling. I have this symptom on my face with some redness and my skin on my face has become really oily too. My face itches, it's really oily and it almost feels like a sunburn. I've also noticed random patches of dry skin showing up on my neck, chest and my penis. On top of that I get these intense pains in my ear and down my neck. They almost feel like electric shocks. All of these I've been dealing with that for around a year, non-stop. Also, the inside of my mouth on the right side feels awful, like there are sores there, although there's nothing visible. The inside of my penis aches too. That one is hard to describe. Is anyone dealing with any of this. I took Valacyclovir for a week and it did nothing. Thanks for reading and any thoughts you have.
  7. Adrial, You are the man. I don't say this because you just made me feel a million times better but because of this incredible support system you've put in place. You've taken a problem turned it into a purpose! I know that there are people out there that have it way worse than I do and they, we, are lucky to have you leading the charge! Thanks again for all that you do! Cheers!
  8. Hey Carlos! Thanks for all this advice! I don't really want to take meds if I can avoid it but if it protects my partners then I certainly would. Right now I'm just not sure how to start dating. I've heard that oral herpes is not as big of a deal but how can I even go on a first date if I can't kiss anyone without telling them first? I already feel bad because I've traced my initial infection to over a year ago and i've been with women since then. Plus this damn cold sore just won't go away and I feel like the world is looking at it. It's keeping me in my apartment like a hermit. Have you had any luck with std dating sites like Positive Singles?
  9. Thanks Lively! That was what I needed to hear. This is all so new to me and I'm still trying to figure this out.
  10. Hey There, I've just found out that I have HSV- 1 of the ORAL variety. First let me say that this site is amazing. You just never think about what support is out there until well, you need it! Anyway, I've been spending alot of time researching H as we have all done I'm sure and I'm noticing that many of the sites focus mostly on Genital Herpes and just refer to Oral as "cold sores". Even the dating sites that I've been on don't seem to have many Oral H carriers. Why is this? Ideally, if I were to connect with someone on herpes dating sites, I'd like them to have the same condition. Do people who get cold sores just shirk it off and not consider it a big deal? I know that many oral carriers don't know they have it but I'm reading that 80% of the population have it! Where are my oral peeps? I've seen one friend with a cold sore, once. I'm sitting here almost wishing I had Genital because it seems like that's the focus of these sites and at least the public can't see your problem. Date, kiss, whatever. It's only when sex comes up that you have to have a discussion. I feel like I can't even kiss someone before telling them and how much trust and loyalty am I going to build on a first date? I've been staring at the same ugly cold sore for 3 weeks and it seems like everyone else is too. I would really love someone's perspective on this.
