  1. Yes, I also had it OB on my inner legs. It was there before I knew I had H. It cleared up with good care and medication. The Dr I saw gave me a cream to prevent irritation and keep the itch from driving me nuts while I worked or was dressed. It was to be used carefully as it can thin the skin due to steroids in it. But I've not had another outbreak since my initial one almost 7 months ago. But Dancer is right. Good hygiene and keeping the stress from making a mountain from a molehill is the best thing. I've learned to let a lot of things go that used to irritate me to death, but now, it's just not worth the stress of worrying. Hope this helps you.
  2. I tried the pill long long time ago, when I was a teen, but it messed up my cycle bad, and didn't help with the cramping. The shot is designed to completely rid you of the cycle, and is used to prevent or lessen cramping. The ideal time for changing contraceptives is around 6-7 years as your body builds up a tolerance to medication after a certain amount of time. As I've just started it, I will be able to use it until I begin menopause, at which time I hopefully will have my body back under control, but I have also began to show early signs of menopause. This has made it so my body processes the shot fast. I am supposed to get the next one at the beginning of December, but have started spotting again. My OB said I may have to go on the 10 week schedule instead, as I have high tolerance to medication. (I'm talking I'm that odd person that has to have double or triple doses of things to work right: antibiotics, pain meds, etc.) So, best bet is to talk to your doctor. They will give you the positives and negatives of anything. Positives: no hormones, periods, cramps, fertility. Negatives: you may never become fertile after stopping the shot or have trouble getting pregnant, you may gain weight, it may just not work (less than 1% of a chance of becoming pregnant on the shot), you will possibly grow facial hair (easy to wax off though), and there's a slight chance of being allergic to it as the main ingredient is a off shoot of estrogen. (testosterone is what starts our periods/makes us fertile and cranky. *laughing*)
  3. I actually started the shot a month before I contracted Herpes. I haven't gained weight, and I still have a light period, but there's no hormones so, they've concluded I am not producing eggs or am I fertile. I have not had an increase in medical costs due to them listing the Depo shot as birth control (reason I started it in the first place), my insurance covers 100% of costs of birth control as it's cheaper than pregnancy. I laugh as I type this, as my last one was a C-section, so it's more expensive for that for them in a major way. I have battled depression since I was a child, so that is nothing new to me. It and insomnia are my old friends, and I argue with them nightly, but I usually win. I did find out that some people who have a high metabolization rate and take the Depo shot often have spotting more, or have periods. This means they need to discuss with their doctor about changing from the 12 week cycle to the 10 week cycle, as I had to do. I did have a full fledged period from early August to mid September without stopping, and it was discovered I was one of the 10% that process it faster than normal. So, please keep this in mind, along with the lack of fluctuating hormones, I do find myself wanting to nibble all day, though if I eat a good meal at lunch and get full, I don't eat as much as if I just snacked or had a light lunch.
  4. I just thought I'd share this as I'm super excited. I am on the daily suppressive therapy dose of Valtrex 500 mg. I had my first outbreak the first week of June this year, and so far, no 2nd outbreak, and neither my spouse nor my Dom have had any signs of any transmission to them. We are all still unsure if I had this before, or if I contracted it around that time, but I did have a bad outbreak with not only sores, but hemorrhoids, nausea, dizziness, loss of appetite, fevers, fainting spells, hot flashes, and several others. Since then, my doctor not only started me on the daily suppressive dose, but the Depo Provera shot every 10-12 weeks (depends on if my body rejects or accepts the shot each time) to keep my hormones from fluctuating. They say it is a good thing to do, and seems to be helping me. I hope by me sharing this, that others out there realize there are options and look into things. I've not only not had any outbreak, but I've not had any infections from anything that has been coming into the area. Yes, I was always the one that got sick from colds and such, but not recently. It's almost like Herpes has helped me not only health wise, but immunity wise too.
  5. Hi, I know I'm not active on this site as much as I would love to be, but I saw this and had to share mine. I was diagnosed very early May this year 2014. Since then H hasn't stopped my sex life one bit. It was rocky the first month cause I was sore from a UTI, but since then I've had intimacies several times a month, weekly or every few days. The first wasn't painful at all, and after that, as both my spouse and my Dom have been exposed, I've been with them both. And yes, I'll be the first to admit, with my Dom it can get very rough. No it doesn't hurt, the main thing is to make sure you are very aroused. If a guy knows what they are doing, then once the moisture is available, sex with H can still be very fun and enjoyable.
  6. I'm newer for OB as I've had it almost 2 months, but I've been on suppressive therapy from the start. I haven't had any outbreaks since the first, and the OBGYN said I probably won't I found out that the combination of Vatrex and birth control drugs has done wonders. I have been intimate, and had no problems from that, nor has anyone come down with it near me. Mine is the genital Type 1.
  7. I take the valacyclovir, and a month supply is $20. I know the last month was the same. My first script was the same too, and that was for 2 weeks of 3 times a day. So, no change in price for me. But I have insurance that covers it.
  8. I sure will, Dancer. And yes, I've already started to educate people. Most where I am are accepting of anything thrown at us, so I get into discussions about it in the oddest places.
  9. Dancer, that's a great idea. There is already a site up and running. It has a separate group within it that is for H + people. They are open minded there. Anyone wanting this site can message me. I'll gladly give it out, along with the group link. And not all in the LS have multiple sex partners. Most of mine are just for the non-sex stuff. I only am with my Dom, except the 1 time. That one time may have infected us both.
  10. I actually have told a couple D and s types. 1 of the s admitted she has it also. And both couples actually still want to play. I'm demo dollie for the one D tonight. They seem open and accepting of me and my H case. I know of at least 1 D that has it also. And it does help. I just wish I could hit that space more often. Right now I'm clear of anything. That's the key to play time. If I have any, then play has to be put off. I do remind myself to remain calm and take each day one at a time. I actually am pain free right now, which is a blessing. Feel free to message me. I don't mind talking about the LS. I'm sure we can find interesting ways to help each other.
  11. From your description, Willow, I hate to say it but it sounds like strep. I'm a strep carrier and can not catch it, but I can transmit it to friends and family if I have a sore throat. It's a white sore/patch to the back of the mouth/throat area, shape doesn't matter. You'll have ear/throat pain, lymph nodes and possible headaches. It's going to be hard to eat, if it's back far enough. Most doctors can tell by sight, but a swab would be best for that. You'd be contagious for 3 days (they'll recommend no work/school). Good luck, and hope you get better.
  12. I had the itching, and believe it or not Preparation H wipes work well too. The ones with Aloe are really nice and it says on the package safe for anywhere...I use them when the itch starts then use the cream. It helps hemorrhoids or the H spots. Oatmeal baths work well too. If you need to have a stronger amount of salt, and I know this from working in nursing, use water softner salt. It comes in a big bag, and it helps both make the water easier, and add salt. A couple handfuls of them in the tub, really hot water and let dissolve around you.
  13. If all else fails from above, my dr was kind enough to give me a prescription for Lidocane gel. I use it when I work only. And I'm always running as a waitress. :) Hope that helps if nothing else.
  14. I've found the same reaction. Most just look at me like it's a discussion on the weather. The only one who has had any other reaction was me. Most show concern that I am getting the right nutrition or needing extra rest time, but I've had more offers of intimacy than before. Several have said they are also H positive, and friends have opened up too. It's a big deal only if we make it one.
  15. I started on Depo Provera. It completely stops the period. I don't have the hormones and so should stop the outbreaks from that. It's an option if you get yeast infections from the pill. I did too, and the shot is once every 3 months (12 weeks). Does the same as the pill.
