  1. My boyfriend and I tried to have sex for the first time since the diagnosis after about 3 weeks post primary OB (5 days after the final sores healed). Sex was so painful we had to stop. Anyone else experience something similar? Is this temporary? Is there anything you can do to minimize the pain? (Sorry if this is TMI)
  2. Thanks, all! That helps to hear stress is a very valid reason. The doctor taking so much blood to test for HIV and mono didn't help my stress levels--as if I could handle anymore at this point.
  3. Almost 3 weeks ago I was diagnosed with genital HSV1, and my first OB has finally cleared up and I have even gone a full day without crying. Progress! Anyway, I woke up with swollen lymph nodes behind my left ear. My OBGYN says this couldn't have anything to do with the HSV, and my PCP says he thinks it is caused from the stress associated with the diagnosis. Has anyone experienced anything similar following their diagnosis?
  4. Anyone in the Charlotte area? I am 29, and I just found out 2 weeks ago my boyfriend gave me genital HSV1. I would love to speak with a male or female about their journey with HSV.
  5. Thanks, @WCSDancer2010! You are an amazing help!
  6. Thank you, @ihaveittoo! This site has already been so helpful! So glad I found this great group of supportive (and knowledgeable!) people.
  7. @LookingForAlaska, Obviously very new to this, but what kind of antivirals do you take? Is that a prescription you take everyday? Or one you keep on hand to take for things like this?
  8. I love this story, Willow! Inspiration for what is possible...
  9. Thank you, @WCSDanver2010! We sent him to the doctor today. I am hoping he comes back with a much better attitude. Do you know if I will get cold sores as well now that I have genital HSV1?
  10. I would be curious about this too! What do y'all think about waxing?
  11. Over the past 1.5 years I have lost over 100 lbs, and in December I finally built up the confidence to have sex for the first time at 28 years old. Last week I found out my boyfriend gave me genital HSV1 when I had my first (and very painful) OB. I could not be more devastated about the diagnosis, and now the insecure girl I have known for years is back in full force. My boyfriend never told me he had oral HSV1, and I can't help but feel angry with him for not disclosing this to me. And now I feel like our physical relationship will be impacted with his high concern for contracting the disease--not sure where that concern was when he knew he had oral HSV1? There is not an hour that goes by I don't think of this disease and what this will mean for my life going forward. Any words of advice to move past this? Any advice on how to repair a relationship after this? Thank you in advance!
