  1. hsv 2 is extremely rare orally and if you have never had any type of OB up there, you most likely don't have it orally. sorry to say this and I really do hope im wrong but if your current beau has an STD issue, esp with ones a shot or some antibiotics can get rid of, I wouldn't expect too much from him viv a vie herpes. I really hope im wrong and that he isn't as bothered by it as it seems he may be but germaphobes and HSV don't mix very well.
  2. oh and to save you the worry. every damned bump on your body isn't herpes!!!!! ( that was one that got me at first)
  3. howdy akrc-17 first an 8 is pretty positive so that is out the window. second, as a parent I soooo understand where you are coming from. just follow good NORMAL hygiene practices and you will be fine. wash your hands, don't touch sores, that sort of thing.
  4. im glad there is movement in this, for the younger folks. at 50 looking for a 10-15 year cycle doesn't do me personally much good as by that time im either gonna have a partner im not having sex with or im gonna be single and not too worried about the need to disclose at 65. :)~
  5. @beachdude, yes they make their money off their drugs coming to market but who is to say a little lining of pockets to keep their competitors off the market doesn't happen? standard oil just look at how many responsible for the 2008 banking crash have high level jobs in the fed think they influence things for their "old" bosses? Look at NutraSweet, couldn't get approved when carter was pres, Reagan was elected and lo and behold appoints as head of the fda one of the top guys in that company and boom, approved! nevermind the side effects that have been reported for decades now. I drink 1 drink with aspartame and insta headache. I cant help but think that antiviral that had the "toxicity" concerns in ph 3 trials wasn't one of those, " keep our competitors at bay and we will donate heavily to your reelection fund" type of deals. 900x the normal does and it caused skin issues in monkeys? a point of interest about the thinking of those in those positions. I remember in the 80s a herb coming out of Africa. it was used by the locals as an adulthood ritual, gave something like a 72 LSD type trip. funny thing about it, 1 dose and decades long addicts had no desire for their drugs anymore! yep. was being tested in Europe at the time. when asked about its use and testing here in " just say no" America, the FDA head at the time said, we don't think its right to give hallucinogenic drugs to people and we don't know the side effects! so, what about the side effects of being a heroin addict? we have some jacked up thinking here, we have rigged systems for those that already have the money, they use influence and cash to keep the system in their favor. therer are no hank reardons in the industrial world. the companies that produce antivirals have an incentive to keep therapeutic vaccines off the market.
  6. @ wcsdancer and fitgirl remember fen-fen? they really got that one wrong didn't they!
  7. @ beachdude, ive seen terri warrens quotes on hsv1/2. its more observational over the course of @ 30 years of dealing with herpes in one of the top sexual health clinics in the world. they are working on 2 different vaccines for H among other things. while I believe she never states its 100% its that they have never had a verifiable case where someone with established hsv2 has gone on to get hsv1. you alluded to something in one of your post that would make sense. looking at it evolutionarily ( thank god for spell check) H1 can and often does get transmitted earlier in life whereas H2 is in general sexually transmitted and therefore needs a sexually " mature" vector. so H1 runs into less individuals with H2 than the opposite, therefore H2 had an evolutionary need to overcome H1 but the opposite isn't necessarily true. its been shown that people who have established H1 when exposed to H2 tend to have a lessened initial OB and less subsequent OBs also. not 100% of course. however, IF lets say one partner has H2 and then performs oral sex on a partner with GH1 during an OB and the H2 partner has an open cut/canker sore or such, then who knows. I have seen in multiple threads on medhelp, on westovers forums, etc where terri states its believes to be damned near 100% immunity to H1 for H2 carriers. I believe ive also read that H2 tends to be a more virulent virus than its sibling and elicits a greater immune response. to add further, our support group just started back up and it used to be run by a long time nurse in the sexual health field and someone had her info from a couple years ago and it was in her notes the observation about H1/2 immunity. she left our area a couple of years ago but was really big in the herpes field from my understanding, went all over the country pushing for research, gathering resources etc. whether there are people actually researching this im not sure, I know ive seen research on autoinoculation with rats but cant remember for this. not sure if its a good candidate for research, maybe a PHDs dissertation, if their university would even accept it. I shall have to look it up.
  8. any condom only protects the area covered and nothing else. ive heard lambskins are not good for HIV prevention as they have a permeability from being made from animal tissue.
  9. im not sure how to process the visual I get from that.
  10. well its made the blackhead rather angry. if it were a laser id think it was the light spectrum. haven't noticed it do anything else with the other thingies ive tried it on so far but im only on day 3 and didn't have much time yesterday to do a good zapping. as to extracting, that thing is in there, would need an oil rig.
  11. you do realize there is an entire world populated by people who have herpes? if your set on never risking giving it to someone ( and I completely understand that sentiment) there are plenty of people in the same situation. also, you say no one is GOING TO WANT to deal with me, that's future tense. ever think about letting them decide? I tell my son all the time, until you ask the answers always NO, so what have you to lose? and im betting your kids are gonna want to "deal" with their mom.
  12. thank you, thank you very much. ill be here all week. remember to tip your servers. I was kidding but in all seriousness, when I get OB related back aches the only thing that helps is beer. 1 blue moon and its gone. ive done 3 advil, multiple Tylenol, even left over meds from a freakin back injury but only a beer. go figure.
  13. @broken_hearted, please don't cut yourself off from the world. I am only 7 months from learning my status and am in a worlds different place. I belong to a local group, we mainly go out and have fun. we have emotional support meeting @ 1x a month. last night I was late for a dinner and caught 2 ladies as they were leaving. they stayed and hung with me while I ate. we talked and joked. made fun of people on POF and had a good time. hey I got to hang with a couple ladies!!! the guys were envious. It does get better! I rarely think about herpes anymore. im not paranoid over every bump, yes I have my herpes quirks but so what? sometimes we have to start small. I would just think of 3 things I was grateful for every morning. just 3! sometimes they were the same things but again, so what there were/are things im grateful for. I have a loving family, I have the worlds greatest son who is healthy, I have a decent job that allows me to pay my bills and have some fun. I have good friends, im quite handsome even I say so myself. :) my point is, baby steps. breathe in breathe out. sometimes life gets us to that place. ive been there many times. just put one foot in front of the other. a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. keep your chin up. live life. as master Poe on kung fu would say " does the sun not shine on you anymore? does the water not quench your thirst? does the fruit tree withhold its sweetness from you? if the sun, earth and nature do not, why do you do it yourself?"
  14. I use acyclovir which is the older version of Valtrex and had some side discomfort. I stopped all the supplements I was taking and went to 1 a day ( rx was a misprinted 3 a day, actually 2 a day). they went away really fast. I then went to my normal rx of 2 a day and added some supplements back. I don't take lysine as it seems to me to be basically the same as antivirals. and I only take zinc here and there if I feel prodomes and only in evening after dinner because it upsets my tummy.
  15. could always mix the cranberry with vodka. wont help any but you wont care as much. :)
  16. ok, so I am not having an ob to test this with BUT I had an odd bump on my back, kinda white/clear. hard from what I could tell. was hard to reach. been there for at least a year. zapped it for 3 days, maybe 20 seconds each time. missed sat and sun, went to look at it on Monday, its gone! holy hand grenades batman. am now trying it on a blackhead ive had on my collar bone since being a teen and a few other skin oddities.
  17. im with what alls been said in whole. dancer stole my thunder with the " only people who would be on a H pos site would be people with it". Having herpes sucks, no one is saying anything else. however that doesn't mean life is over, it just has a new set of rules. some of which are actually old rules. like getting to know someone before giving up the goodies. in our case its, getting to know if someone is worth telling. as to the ozone/consumable peroxide theory. while I have heard of this I have a few things to say. A just because they are a doctor it isn't a given they know, well anything really. just look at how many peoples doctors misdiagnosed them. B, if it worked a hyperbaric chamber would then be a cure and hospitals would be renting them out by the hour. C did this snake oil salesman also mention you need to take mucho antioxidants to offset what all that extra oxygen is doing to your body?? you see, oxygen is an oxidant ( its the root of the word!) ever notice a truck with that warning on it? you know why its on there? because free oxygen combines with things causing reactions, some of which go BOOM! your body has oxygen in it already, you are not an aerobic environment. you have no place in your body where there are more than 2 cells in thickness between capillaries so oxygen can get to them. your blood is red because of it. I cant say that there may not be some merit to helping, after all a hyperbaric chamber does aid in healing, however curing is a different animal all together. I would demand verifiable test results of the western blot variety both pre and post " cure" from multiple people. its a sad thing but herpes seems to bring out a huge number of scam artists, some may actually believe they are helping. its gonna be a tough cure given the way it works. there are new discoveries everyday, new ways of approaching it but a real absolute cure will probably never come. some therapeutic help, sure, a preventative, probably. however the reality is once a preventative is found a therapeutic become very low priority as there will be a dwindling number of customers, er patients. heartbroken, it sucks, its tough, it makes one feel lonely at times, makes one question the future. but so does bad Mexican and you haven't given up eating tacos have you??? come to florida, the sun is shining, some weird northerners have started swimming and showing of their pastiness. we will have a beer and go dancing. I can cut a mean rug when ive had a couple and have a partner, well at least I think I can.
  18. not blood borne so, NO. and as dancer said they wear gloves and should be sterilizing everything. I have multiple tats though all pre herpes ( tho I need to do one for my kid but his mom stole my idea, dhoh) and know the procedures. nothing about you, unless your insane enough to get an OB inked, is unsafe for them. they mean real communicable diseases. this is why I always think of herpes as TRANSMITTABLE, not communicable. subtle difference but a difference anywho.
  19. at the risk of seeming judgmental, I think my head exploded a little.
  20. I agree with dancer here. and unfortunately looking at oneself can sometimes really suck. I know last week for me was brutal, everything was a pain in the tush and they all played into each other. funny how that happens. right now im 3 beers in because I just don't give a shit at the moment. BUT, it will get better, I will give a shit. ive got dinner tomorrow with friends, a support meeting on Thursday, Saturday plans, etc. Dennis leary use to say, " lifes tough, get a helmet!" "there is this angel, and her wings are torn. She offers me a string of pearls and thorns, and she seems to smile, just before she disappears, and she whispers, 'your not the only one bleeding here" Ray Willie Hubbard, there are some days.
  21. I think so, the term "eliminating herpes" means stopping its spread. if you stop the spread of a disease you effectively eliminate it. it may still be in individuals but it wont spread anymore so eventually it goes away. a vaccine is Occam's razor for those of us who have hsv. while it eliminates in a way the need to disclose and therefore some of the issues surrounding hsv, it also effectively means an end to any type of therapeutic vaccine unless in the pipeline already. why? because of a dwindling number of people who might need a therapeutic and therefore a dwindling number of consumers, because that's basically all we are nowdays.
  22. ok, thanks for the clarification. ive played with the thing a bit and ive been on a TENS machine for a back injury and this is like a lower level more focused version of that. I have a high pain threshold as it were. I had read the blue were better at killing critters as they create a small amount of UV, not enough to damage skin but a microburst to the buggers. a second set of wands is @ 20 on amazon. I kind of like the ozone smell when using it. and I did use it on an itchy spot and it stopped itching.
  23. well its somewhat convoluted. http://www.orlandoh2ogroup.com/ this is the website you contact thru. there is a process as its anonymous on meetup. there is a tampa and an Orlando group together. the Orlando one has 1x a month support meetings and the tampa one has restarted one at roughly 3 week intervals. meeting in st pete for the time being. plus there are lots of social gatherings from dinner to music, etc.
  24. well id need to have an OB to do anything with it. by tapping you mean not touching the skin? in its rather interestingly written instructions there seems to be 2 ways of using it, on skin and just above. and you did this for 5-10 straight? also what color light wand? mine came with the orange and I now understand the violet is better on critters. have to see if I can get a second set. I used it on my face and it did seem to smooth out some crows feet a bit and lessen my familial raccoon eyes a bit.
  25. first off let me say this, the research was a blind test. its been done several times with the same results. people are asked questions and a blood sample is taken. of the people who had herpes, 80% said they didn't know, before the test was done. now, I know my story. I was very sick with what I and a doctor thought was Mono ( another herpes virus btw) with a concurrent bacterial infection on my scrotum. the doc gave me antibiotics and it cleared up. so I went to a doc and was given the all clear. never even mentioned herpes and they even test for it there. it was a few months later 1, yes 1 bump formed and went away in maybe 3 days before I could do anything about it. a few months later the same thing. I went to a planned parenthood doc figuring they would have a better understanding. I did have a few bumps on me in the trunk area and on my inner thigh. the doc looked at them, used a magnifying glass and poked an prodded and declared the trunk ones molluscum and the thigh ones hardened cysts ( not uncommon for men my age). the molluscum cleared up over time ( it can take months to years) the cysts I cut off myself. so, fast forward @ another 6 months and nothing really but somewhere in the back of my mind I kept wondering. however PP only does swabs and with no bumps........ so I went to a lab myself and got tested, why? because I was curious and was wanting to get a clean bill of health before making a go at more long term dating prospects as I had grown tired of my post divorce syndrome. so yes,its possible to not know. I did my due diligence in the beginning and went to a doctor. he actually said my infection looked more like syphilis than anything else but given the incubation time and the fact I had been on antibiotics for a work related injury it would have been damned near impossible to have it present. oh and the PP doc even told me flat out that if the other doctor didn't think it was herpes and my description didn't sound like it then not to worry.
