  1. @hereandnow man I feel for you ( and everyone dealing with this) if ever there is a perfect example of the stigma its the possibility of H in the throat. hearing you worry about people seeing it really hit that home for me. I don't think I have my H2 orally nor esophageally (?) but I do remember the sore throat and walking around going " check this out, ahhhhhhh" to people. "this is what mono looks like" {ladies its a guy thing, we gross our friends out, deal with it} yet if it had been H I would have felt self conscious about it. same look, same discomfort but its 2 different (yet related) viruses. I would take my blister or two and slightly swollen lymphs for a week and side pain over that sore throat any day, when freakin ice cream hurts, ICE CREAM the most gentle thing on the planet other than baby bunnies, your only thought is, what the hell did I do to piss you off god?
  2. they do make flavored condoms, unfortunately no flavored dental jams. saran wrap "works" but having been on both sides of that id say its not as good as Au natural. ( well at least the few times I tried, maybe with lots of practice....) and from a male perspective, oral with a condom is rather dull, as oral tends to use more subtle tactile responses. so if you do try be prepared for A some work and B some level of potential frustration on either persons part and last but not least, C a definite test of your skills. id recommend throwing in some extra dirty talk and eye contact and maybe a sexy outfit to help. of course I also add, as a man im always happy when someone wants to give me a mouth hug even with a raincoat. :)
  3. In about a million years maybe but not in you. And having one type offers " some" protection from the other. It seems H2 overs more protection from H1 than the other way. Makes since biologically since 2 is transmitted sexually and would be more likely to run into a vector containing 1. Terry warren over at Westover has said she has never seen nor heard of a case of someone with an established case of H2 catching H1. Of course thats anecdotal at this point.
  4. Im kinda curious about this myself. My first ob was believed to be mono. All the symptoms. Sore throat came about 3 days in. Ive often wondered if i either got both mono and H2 concuerently or if H set off mono ( it too stays with you for life, a cousin of H). I have however had nothing remotely like an ob in my throat in the 1 1/2 years since. Not even a sore throat w either a flu or ob or combo last year. I did lose certain tastes which is known w mono. Cant imagine having that sore throat regularly, ice cream felt like lit gas going down my throat ( had a good wtf with the big guy upstairs over THAT surprise).
  5. Overcome, interesting choice of words. Dont think my back could handle it.
  6. um, if your worried about passing it vaginally you could also try anal. still have penetration but not in the area of OBs ( I assume). not for everyone I know, probably the stigma. ( seewutididthere)
  7. hey. just treat it as you would any other cut on your hand. cover it and keep it from people. herpes or not I don't like someone offering me their hand for a handshake and seeing open sores. my point is, it is what it is. treat it like any other sore. bandaids for the win!. I recently had something on my right pinky and yes my mind went to whitlow, it was on my right hand on the pinky in a spot that would come in contact with my testicles during solo sexy time, egad! i must have shed!!! no I scrapped my hand on a concrete floor while at work and the homeowner had a very old dog and a catbox on said lanai. it was less than clean. my assumption, ( given that the simplest answer is usually the correct one) is it got infected. a bandaid and some antibiotic cream and it got better in a few days. I still kept it covered and didn't use it for much in way of contact with others, regardless of what it was. sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
  8. Hey pixie, take it from dancer on the bio hazardous tub. IFand i mean If you want a wee quirk for piece of mind, get some peroxide, put it into a spray bottle and nuke the tub after. It is a great cleaner. Dupount is startung to market it as such. I spray my shower curtain with it and yiu can hear it eating up the soap scum. The tub isnt contaminated by you, remember that, i look at it as a way i gain control over thevirus ( i like to picture the virys being oxidized by the peroxide, bwaahahahaha) and nothing wrong with a clean tub. Again the tub isnt a superfund site. ( i may have dated myself with that reference)
  9. im going to throw my .02$ in ( its worth 36.57$) I get canker sores from too much vitamin c ( and im in florida where the whole state is awash in it) I also get little abrasions when I eat nacho chips and the salt doesn't help. it has caused me a moment pause since my diagnosis but thenj the rational brain does a beatdown on the emotional one and I realize its the aforementioned reasons. thrush can also cause some funny stuff in the mouth. my sons mother got it while nursing and his mouth looked like he was rabid for a day, I almost drew a 666 on his head to freak her out but then I realized new mothers don't find that as funny as dads do.
  10. I scratched the hell out of my obs when I didn't know what they were and no witlow so im guessing your all right. funny this came up in convo with a fellow H bud. how people are with the sores and applying stuff to them. my thought was if H is so weak outside the body and im putting tea tree oil on it which is antiviral itself, how in the hell would it survive to get on my finger? also the palm side of our hands evolved to handle this, that's why the skin there is thick and contains a lot of "wax" ( I forgot the correct term). we handle a lot of stuff with nasties on them and manage to not get them. chances are the cream you were using killed the virus anyway once it was outside the body.
  11. also, antivirals are not like antibiotics. antibiotics kill the bug, antivirals help prevent its replication. your body still has to deal with the virus . im on suppressive and ive had a minor OB occurring recently. only 1 bump and some side/back discomfort but nothing like in them past. I also take echinecea and goldenseal for about a week when I feel any type of oddity 9 OB, cold flu, etc)
  12. hey 2 things to consider about cost. planned parenthood here in central florida offers acyclovir suppressive for 25 a month and the walgreens chain has a card you can get for 20 a year that makes acyclovir cost @ 28 a month. I use the card as the time + gas (well a few months back) was more than the difference.
  13. What dancer said. My little quirks are soley for my own piece of mind. Even tho i know its not on my towel that 1 second of worry about my kid before the rational brain kicks in makes it worth it to use the washcloth. And stay off google for anything not related to porn :)
  14. For pc of mind, when i have OBs i bring a washcloth along when i shower todry only the OB area using the towel everywhere else. I know it almost impossible to spread w a towel but it helps with pc of mind. More so because of my kid than anything else.
  15. Love python! Wheres the fetus going to gestate, in a box?
  16. Also, the shigle/chickenpox vaccine wasnt claumed to cure but act as a therapeutic. It help bring the virus into latency and keep it there. Only anecdotal evidence at this point. However, if you think H is bad, shingles is far worse so get the shot if your in the demographics.
  17. Not to V block but remember, a very promising new therapeutic antiviral was recently shot down in ph 3 trials because it "caused toxicity and skin issues in monkeys" at 900x the normal dose. More likely caused toxicity to the bottom line of a powerful pharma co.
  18. While i agree with what pos said, part of me thinks a comment along the lines of " my H sure didnt bother you when we were having sex" is in the back of my mind. Also, doesnt it kind of " throw him under the bus" to make an issue of this? If he is trying to use the stigma against someone.
  19. and walgreens has a card for 20$ a year that gets you a discount on RX there ( plus other in store products). my acyclovir is 27$ for a months suppressive and its around the corner unlike planned parenthood which was 25 for a month and an hour drive thru traffic there.
  20. my friend, it will get better. I am @ 6 months post diagnosis and am worlds away from where I was then. barely even think about herpes most days and it only enters my mind when I do the daily scoping of the area, which in all honesty is something we should be doing anyway, tho im not too inclined to look at man junk even if it is mine. and attractiveness is an odd thing, just look around you sometime. ive seen some fugly dudes with hot women and what I would think were decent looking guys with women I found utterly unattractive. I have also seen women who were not what I would consider attractive yet had a sexiness to them that literally oozed out and women who were drop dead gorgeous who had nothing sexy about them at all to me. wanna know something? I don't find Angelina jolie attractive at all, does nothing for me one bit yet she is considered one of the worlds most beautiful women yet I find Amy pohler attractive cause she is so clever and funny and given the choice would rather have sexy time with Amy, even if it isn't sexually spectacular I know its going to be fun!!!
  21. one thing to note, shaving in the area of interest, BOTH partners. it should be done the day before as it causes micro cuts, even when there are no noticeable cuts and they can heal. I have no doubt that's how I got mine given the area of concern. now I use a beard trimmer set to the lowest setting, give a nicely quaffed area but no nicks ( yikes) nor micro cuts. unfortunately given the status of my love life im currently sporting a 70s manfro . bow chicka bow wow.
  22. That dr oz or the doctors show might be a better venue as they are health related shows. Maybe dr drew but from what ive heard he has become somewhat of a prick recently
  23. Howdy. Fairly new to H and antivirals. The meds dont kill the virus like antibiotics, they stop/slow the replication of the virus. It stands that OBs would still occur only (usually) milder i just had an OB, swollen lymph nodes in groin, a bump, back pain. But no where near what had been normal for those symptoms as im just past my 1 year w H mark.
  24. Lawlz, good read. One of my dont give a Fs, getting offended by ( almost anything) herpes humor.
  25. I believe the CDC is the source for most of the info. There is some good nerdy reads related to H out there just ne careful of the source.
