  1. @E9507 no they didn't. I paid $50 for the phone consult with Westover Heights and I just checked my bank statement for the cost of the test and I wasn't charged. They never said they would or wouldn't charge me for the test...so maybe they won't? I do see the $50 on my bank statement so...who knows. Either way, it's worth it. I would spend any amount of money to clarify test results no matter what the diagnosis. I want to know exactly what I do and do not have. Call Westover Heights of your doctor won't do it. They're amazing. Good luck! <3
  2. Hi everyone, My herpes journey started about a month ago when I was diagnosed with hsv-2 by bloodwork. I never had symptoms and honestly didn't know I was being tested. Needless to say I was in complete shock and struggled with my diagnosis (as I'm sure you can relate). I found this forum and I cannot thank you all enough. After more research and the recommendation to check into the Western Blot and Westover Heights clinic in Oregon by @WCSdancer2010 I had the western blot test and found I'm negative for both hsv 1 and hsv 2. First, thank you. Thank you all so much. I would've been so lost without this forum and I would have never learned about the western blot. Second, if you are in a similar situation...get another test!! Like I said, I never had symptoms. HOWEVER, as I learned on this forum, majority of people with herpes do not know they have it. Either way, further testing can only help you. The false positive range is from 0.0-3.5 and I was 2.9. Read your results, research, and if it doesn't feel right...keep pushing for an answer. I would have spent the rest of my life taking a cocktail of vitamins (because I'm a worry wart) and medication I didn't need. There are so many changes in your life with this diagnosis. I learned its not the end of the world and I feel so fortunate to have found all of you to help me through and help me find out more about this world of h. Thank you thank you thank you. p.s. Westover Heights Clinic was so incredibly helpful. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. :) <3
  3. Hi everyone. I'm having a rough day today. I was diagnosed with HSV-2 via bloodwork but due to the low number and never having symptoms, I'm getting the western blot test done Wednesday. Today I had to have a biopsy done due to an abnormal Pap smear (second time around). It's just a lot. I'm dealing with two issues in such a private part of my body (and life) and I just don't know how to handle it. I had a mini breakdown in the parking lot of the doctors office with just the thought of "why me?" I pray to God my western blot comes back negative. I know herpes is not the end of the world and I'm lucky I haven't had symptoms. I just don't want to have to face both of these things at once, you know? :( ugh. It's just hard.
  4. Thank you @Adrial (Mr. H Opp) & @willow !! And @forgivenessandpeace I'm going to keep my fingers crossed!! It's funny because I've read herpes is in the same "family" as mono and I was tested for mono once, told I had antibodies so at some point I had it, however I never was sick or had symptoms. I pray that this is the same case lol.
  5. Hi everyone. Recently diagnosed a week ago and just picked up my prescription for Valtrex (today is my 3rd dose). I've been researching a lot and it seems to be a common suggestion to take Lysine and Zinc along with Echinacea to help suppress/lessen outbreaks (which I know isn't a guarantee). I have yet to have an outbreak and only found out I contracted HSV-2 due to asking for the full panel STD check plus blood work and my doctor luckily decided to test for herpes without me specifying. Anyway I just was curious what you all take or do? What have been your experiences with these or other meds/vitamins? Do they seem to have any effect when you do have an outbreak? I'm kind of just taking these medications blindly since I have never had an outbreak… :) <3
  6. I literally just read about the false positives. My level was 2.6. I'm going in today to have a consult with my doctor so I will definitely check with her! Thank you so much for your kind words!! @WCSDancer2010 <3
  7. I've been feeling the same exact way. I just found out last week and every so often it slips my mind and I'm back to feeling happy and normal. Then I remember this diagnosis and I feel this terrible feeling in my chest. I've heard two "jokes" about herpes this weekend and wow that hurts. It makes me feel like a leper or something. I find myself looking around and thinking how many people probably don't have herpes and I'm here carrying this virus and dark secret. I know more people have it than you think but it's just hard. My thoughts go out to you. You'll make it through...we all will. Gotta keep the hope alive or else it'll feel impossible. Thank god we have this forum to support one another. I could never do this alone.
  8. Hi everyone. I'm new here. Had a full STD panel screening plus bloodwork last week which led to the discovery of HSV-2. I've never really had any symptoms that I noticed, however possibly two spots this year. Over the summer I noticed what I though was an ingrown hair (but the bump was a little bigger) on my front side..like about 3-4 inches above my Lady parts. It never hurt and I did accidentally scratch it off once I think so there was slight bleeding but never pain. That has now gone (been gone for at least a month or so). Another smaller one has appeared more the size of a pimple. Still in the same area (so nowhere near my vagina or anything). Is it possible that this is where my outbreaks will be? Do outbreaks move around down there? I read that the first outbreak is typically the worst. I don't know when I was exposed and like I said I've only noticed two "blisters." Neither were painful to touch. I've checked and not seen any others on my genitalia. I guess I'm just trying to convince myself this is all it will ever be...as all of you know it's quite a rollercoaster of emotions after finding out your diagnosis...especially without any symptoms. Kind of been blindsided by this...
