  1. Hello, I was diagnosed with HS2 last year after getting it from my boyfriend at the time. He was unaware that he had it and it caused quite a strife in our relationship leading to a breakup. Since being with him, I've avoided any intimate relationships out of fear of spreading this awful virus to anyone else. Now that I'm ready to get back out there, I'm wondering what the risk of spreading herpes is when not on suppressive therapy. I have to pay for my medications and, honestly, those pills are just too expensive for me to take consistently - especially when my outbreaks are few and far between.
  2. Hey all, I'm Rachel from Toronto area, Ontario. I've had HS2 for a year now but haven't ever had anyone to talk to about this. If anyone is able to chat about it, I'd appreciate it :)
  3. Hey Geminis84 I got it around this time last year from an ex who had no clue that he had it in the first place. I'm still struggling with the mental/emotional side of having herpes... the stigma I feel with it and how it would affect anybody that I may enter into a relationship with. Honestly, I haven't mastered the relationship part yet but I can say that it feels much less emotionally daunting than it did when I was diagnosed. I would freak out emotionally whenever I had an outbreak and now I tend to go with the flow if they do come around. I'm new to this website but after looking around - they do have some good information about protecting/not protecting in the future so I would try to look at either the blog or the frequently asked questions posts and see if you can find some answers there. I can tell you for a fact that outbreaks will become less severe and less frequent over time. I had my initial outbreak followed by 2 more all in the span of about 2 months last year and they were all pretty painful (although the initial outbreak was particularly bad). Since last December I think I've had only one very minor outbreak where all I felt was a bit of itchiness for a few days but nothing like last year! I can tell you for sure though, that outbreaks can be related to stress! So try to keep stress levels down and rest assured that outbreaks become much better than when herpes is new! Hope this helps!
