Hello all, I was wondering about triggers for OBs with HSV1. I haven't had any noticeable OBs but could contact with someone else that already has type1 or 2 be a trigger since you both have some form? I have read about several triggers but that's not one I have seen anything about. I'm referring to a non OB situation of course. Just my mind wondering and trying to gather more information. Thanks

Well that sounds familiar so you probably hit the nail on the head. I have read a lot of sources online and it seems like I was going in circles. I'm glad I found someplace to get answers. I tried asking questions when I got my test done but they didn't know much either. She tried to print out some information but wasn't able to find it. Thanks again for your time and help!

I don't remember anything specific but if chapped lips can but confused for symptoms then that might have been it. I do remember having what I thought was chapped lips. So does that mean she will always have it in the same location as well? I'm still just processing and not really sure where to go with this whole thing next. Thanks for the help!

Hello all, I just found out I'm positive for HSV1 two days ago (igg >8). I was with a "friend" and gave her oral sex a couple of times. About two weeks later she started having some severe reactions to something. She went to the ER where they first couldn't find an answer. After another trip to her doctor the next day, they visually diagnosed her with herpes. No blood test were done. She finally told me but we wasn't sure who had it first because she had been with a lot of partners but she never has had any symptoms and the coincidence was too strong. I went and got tested and once I found out I had type 1 we figured I gave it to her. She is still going to be tested but since I have never had any symptoms I had no idea I had it. How am I supposed to know that I'm more likely to pass this on to others? I would have never done this knowing but I don't want to do it again. So am I just not going to be able to know? Should I just avoid any contact in the future now? Do I only need to be concerned passing this orally? Sorry for all the questions but there is a lot of contradicting information on the web.

Does the igg results tell you anything other than a positive/negative? I got a >8 for HSV1 so it's positive. But does this number indicate anything else? I just found out two days ago so I will probably have more questions. I have never had any symptoms that I noticed. Only the blood test so no swab test done. Thanks
