  1. I took a blood test at 17 weeks past possible exposure and my results were combined iGg: 2.62, combined iGm: 3.37, hsv1 glycoprotein iGg: 0.14, and hsv2 glycoprotein iGg: 0.60.. I also took a blood test at 1.5 weeks past exposure and just had combined scores of iGg: .69 and iGm: 1.14. Since both combined scores have gone up, my dr insists to diagnose me with genital hsv. I'm fully aware that igm is not recommended to diagnose hsv and that combined iGg has a higher rate of false positives? I also was prescribed acyclovir and took the prescription 3x a day for 7 days within the first 2 weeks and refilled and took a pill during times I thought I was experiencing prodrome symptoms. I haven't taken any antivirals for roughly a month and a half before my latest blood test. Does anyone have any input on my results? Should I wait longer to redo my test through herpes select because the antivirals might have an effect on seroconversion? I'm just really confused. It seems like it's hard to get an answer for sure one way or the other.
  2. So I've been dealing with this diagnosis for the last 3 months now and have been experiencing an outbreak about once a month. The duration and intensity of the OBs have gotten better each time, but I just have a question for some of the vets out there. I know it'll take a while for my body to get this virus under control so that the OBs will hopefully be fewer and farther between eventually, but what have some of you experienced over the years? Have you gone an extended period of time without anything? Months... Years? All I see on here is people getting constant OBs, but I'm also in fb group and people are saying 'first ob in 3 years'. I'm hoping this damn virus goes dormant soon and doesn't rear it's ugly head in a long time.. I'm in my mid-20s and in pretty good shape so I would think my immune system would be able to get this under wraps sooner than later. It's just a downer everytime I experience those damn prodrome symptoms and know what's coming.. Anyways, this site is awesome. I've learned so much about hsv over the past few months. Thanks for your help
  3. I feel your pain. I'm recently diagnosed and also in the military. It seems like sex is such a popular conversation in my unit but yet when stds come up, it's always in a joking matter. It's hard because I don't want to tell anyone about my past mistakes and I've beaten myself up about it enough already without having them dogging me on top of it. Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone!
