  1. Well I went back and got tested for everything all over again. I do not have HVS1, or anything else aside from HVS2, which I knew I had. So thankfully I don't have both, and I am not the source for the infection of my partner or his past partner. Thanks for all the help!
  2. Interesting stuff! Thank you all for the feedback :) I'll know this week what everyones situation is.
  3. I've had Hvs2 for 5 years, and waxed religiously for 4 (I've since moved on to laser hair removal down there). Sometimes waxing would trigger an outbreak for me, but that was before I was prescribed antivirals. Taking [for me] valtrex, consistently before and after each session (waxing or laser) has been huge for preventing outbreaks. I can't remember getting an OB after with the meds. Hope that helps!
  4. Right when I thought I had it alllllll figured out... Alright, so I was diagnosed with Hvs2 about 5 years ago. I have started casually seeing someone with whom I have only had protected sex with. Sparing you all of the drama of the entire situation, a recent and past partner of his, is pointing her finger at him for infecting her with Ghvs1. He was the only person she had slept with in awhile, and her Dr. told her that he believed she had contracted it within a week (a week after engaging in unprotected sex with him). He is waiting on his test results, and is very upset that he could have infected her, and possibly other people. When he told me about the situation I reciprocated the same grace and understanding he gave me when I first told him about my situation. I felt very confident that I had not been the source of this infection (since he slept with her, after him and I had only slept together once) because I know I am Hvs2, am on daily suppressive therapy, I had no signs of an outbreak, and we had protected sex. But then I thought.... And remembered my most recent ex, who did not have Hvs2, but did find out he had Hvs1 (through a blood test, he never had any symptoms or outbreaks in either oral or genital area), and we did have unprotected sex during our time together. So now I'm wondering about both sides of the coin! I haven't been tested since before my ex (and I have an appointment for a full screening in a few days). My questions are: 1. Could I have gotten Hvs1 orally, from preforming oral sex on either partner? 2. Could I have Hvs1 and Hvs2 both genitally? Could I have both Hvs1 and Hvs2 just in general? - If so, what does that mean for me as far as protection, maintenance, and future disclosures? 3. Could I have been the cause of this Hvs1 ordeal between my current partner and his last partner? 4. What is the antibody situation with everyone now!? If my current partner does have Ghvs1, are we resilient to each other, or could we swap types!? What is the oral sex risk from here on out? Herpes is a one hell of a nuisance...
