  1. Why do people with oral HSV1 don't need to disclose and those with genital HSV1 do? The risk is the same, no?
  2. Thank you!!! 1) but the guy (type 1 guy) I passed it on to during the incubation period had gotten swabbed and his result was type 1... I couldn't possibly have had type 2 and passed on type 1 on the genitals? Because his test came back as 1, I had assumed I also had type 1. And I'm sure that was 100% the case... at that time. But since him, I slept with a guy who's had type 2 for twenty years and the condom once slipped off and that's why I'm wondering if I also have 2 now (but I doubt it). I went for a swab at one point thinking I had a second OB. Came back negative. Damn it, why didn't the dr swab at time of visual diagnosis when lesions were undeniably there??! Would have saved me so much trouble. I can't get swabbed now because I've yet to have a lesion!! I know, it sounds like I'm almost wishing for one... I had to pay $160 for that igg test (Canada). So because it wasn't exactly at 4 months when I got tested, I wasted my money.... :( I plan on writing a letter to the clinic recommending they swab all patients... 3) have def been using condoms with type 2 guy. It's just that one time it slipped off. But I will ask about his OB location.
  3. Ok, adding again: I'm 40 (pre-menopausal). I had passed on my 1 to dude while during the incubation period (I didn't know). I'm on progesterone birth control, have not had an OB per se since first one in Aug (lesions, etc), I've just been red and irritated off and on with prodrome symptoms off and on ever since Aug). Discharge sometimes but may be yeast related, which I know how to care for (boric acid suppositories). No pain whatsoever.
  4. I should also add that I started taking daily Valtrex one week ago so IN CASE I also have 2 (verdict is out on those helping with g-HSV 1 but as I've posted before, whether I have only 1, I'd been wanting to take the daily meds if it would increase my chances of not being rejected - with condoms of course!! ... at first anyway) and it takes about 10 days to kick in... ? With all the research I've done... Darn, I shouldn't have slept with 2 guy, then it would be much safer for dude and I... even with an OB, and no condoms, it would have been just g-HSV 1 with a g-HSV 1, no biggie. I still believe my chances of having contracted 2 is low... I think there's a bigger risk of dude and I transmitting our 1 to each orally :o
  5. My situation: I got g-HSV 1 and passed it on to someone. I was only visually diagnosed because doctors don't think there's a diff between 1/2 (*eye roll). The only reason I know it was 1 is because dude got swabbed and that's what it was. This was in early Aug/15. Since dude, I met someone on Positive Singles. He has had g-HSV 2 for 20+ years and to his knowledge, never passed it on, even unprotected to GF of 6 yrs ago and that was a couple yrs ago. He says he gets OBs maybe twice a year, religiously takes L-Lysene but doesn't believe in daily supp therapy. I slept with him. Condom slipped off due to all the lube the first time and afterwards condom always stayed on. But I'm worried I got 2 on top of 1. I'll be seeing first dude again next week and we plan on not using condoms. I know that the longer you've had it, the transmission rate drops (20 yrs is a long time). I took an igg test almost 2 weeks ago. I would have been at my 3mth mark for 1 and possibly 2 weeks shy of 3 mths for 2. I don't even know where the 2 guy gets his OBs (shaft? scrotum? tip?). What are the chances I also got 2?
  6. I read in another post (sex after diagnosis...) that it takes approx 10 days for the meds to kick in...
  7. I'm in the same situation. I'm a 40 yr old woman, recently separated and was in a sexless marriage. Now I just can't seem to get enough. I want to try suppressive therapy, just so that it'll increase my chances of not being rejected after disclosure. I'm also on birth control (no estrogen so I don't get my period). I don't have any OBs per se (lesions) but I do get irritated from time to time + prodrome (sore butt, tingling , etc). A fellow herpster friend said I shouldn't do Valtrex b/c my body will never learn how to cope on its own. But, I really wanna get laid, and not limit myself to fellow herpsters. 10 days for Valtex to kick in, huh? Maybe I should start soon so when the time comes...
