  1. @Mmissouri thanks so much for your advice and reassurance ' happy holidays and new year !!
  2. @mmissouri thank you! So I'm guessing you haven't personally ever switched medications? I'm just disheartened because I was told by so many that my outbreaks would continue to become more mild. While my third isn't nearly as bad as my first, I am shocked to see my first ever blister as I have only Experienced the "paper cut" ulcers before
  3. My second outbreak was immediately following my first laser hair removal treatment on my bikini area so that seemed obvious. My third came shortly after. Is one of my worst ones and came on with NO warning. I'm on preventative acyclovir
  4. Hi. I was diagnosed in April during my First ob. I immediate took acyclovir and have been taking it daily. (I'm not interested in med free so really only want advice on the the different meds) I didn't have any obs from April until November 22. I got one immediately after my first laser hair removal treatment in my bikini region. It was mild insofar that I had one tiny ulcer and it cleared within 4 days However I suddenly got ANOTHER outbreak on dec 18 and its worse. I have a deep ulcer and a blister. It's slightly bleeding and it almost looks like there is a string of skin near it. I've NEVERRRR had a blister before. Im also alarmed by the long period of time between my first and second outbreak yet a short period between my second and third. Further, I worry that I've already had 3 outbreaks during my first half year even on daily medicine! I'm wondering if the medicines aren't in fact working? Has anyone switched between the two medicines?
  5. Awsome. It's good to know that you don't experience that anymore. It's definitely not a fun result of sex. My partner and I waited forever and low and behold I tore all along the same lines. I am on and have been on acyclovir. So I am hoping this is just slow healing and we had sex too soon. But lube is a good idea thanks so much!! It's so great being able to seek advice and talk openly with people on here :)
  6. @sadpanda I have the paper cuts type ob. After my initial OB I noticed the skin where they were was more red and delicate if you will but the cuts closed up by the end or April beginning of May. I just had sex for the first time since we found out in April. Immediately after I checked the mirror bc I felt pain in the beginning. I am torn and cut open along the same spots. I take acyclovir daily. I'm so happy to see your valtrex is working well. . Do you experience tearing in the same area after sex?
  7. Thanks so much @jjj2015 and @mmissouri. It's good to hear it's not a huge issue for either of you ! I'm just going to keep enjoying my symptom free time and try not to worry. Even if I knew an outbreak is likely to occur, really nothing I can do to stop it anyway. :)
  8. I was diagnosed in April and had a bad first outbreak (as far as range of symptoms but not visible severity). I immediately started acyclovir during that first outbreak and now maintain a dose of 2x a day. I am supposed to increase to 3x daily for 5 days if I think I'm having an outbreak or about to have one. I have done the increased dose once bc I had the prodome or whatever (tingles). But nothing else happened. Right now I'm studying for the bar. HIGHHHH stress, so just waiting for an outbreak to come on. My biggest fear is that it'll happen during the two exam days. I know worrying is only gonna increase the chances and I have been doing a good job of forgetting about my heroes completely. I know everyone is different by my doctor said I may never have another outbreak again. Hard for me to believe because I feel like I'm so prone to sickness and injury. Does anyone who is taking antivirals have insight to share? what are the chances I will get one this soon or how often would one expect outbreaks? Is it possible to have "mini" outbreaks lasting less than a day!? I believe in both western and eastern medicine but as of now I am NOT interested in stopping the pills. I take medication for other things and do not find being on medication forever if it is something that helps me.
  9. I'm on them! Started acyclovir during my first outbreak and then immediately (still during my first OB) started suppressive. which is why I hope this isn't an outbreak thanks for your help:)
  10. Thanks @libra. Were you on any medication or suppressive therapy during this time ?
  11. Is it possible to have back to back outbreaks. I'm talking 2-3 days after what seems to be the end and everything seems heeled, is it possible to have a new outbreak begin?
  12. Update for anyone reading this for info. The following day I had extreme itching at night (after OB had seemed to be over). I took a yeast infection pill in case. It's still itching and it's EXCRUTIATING. I went in to urgent care per the advice nurse's instruction. The doc there said no yeast and just diagnosed me with BV (which I've had before and don't think this is it... I don't have the discharge). Anyway, the doc wasn't a gynocologist and was busy and the exam seemed cursory. I'm gonna take the medicine they gave me for BV and return to my Gyno during normal hours if it's not better in a few days.
  13. Hey. I am newly diagnosed with herpes. I presented with a cut on my V (no blisters) and then was diagnosed by a culture. I'm pretty sure my first outbreak is ending or is over. However now I'm a bit itchy with yeast like discharge. I've had yeast infections frequently in my life. I was wondering if anyone has had a yeast infection triggered by an OB ? I really just wanna know how to tell the difference. I know it will take time. I have a diflucan pill handy which has always helped with my yeast infections but I really don't know if this is the end of the outbreak of a yeast infection. I know every body is different but I would really love any information or insight ! Thanks y'all
