  1. Hello! I was first diagnosed with GHSV-1 by the NP at my college clinic. While I got along well with her, she was much more concerned about my birth control than the recent herpes diagnosis (plus I'm graduating soon and cannot keep going to this clinic). I am looking for a physician or nurse practitioner with experience with herpes or STIs. I was thinking a gyno would be best since I tend to notice symptoms around my period and my current birth control causes a lot of abnormal bleeding. If anyone has any insight I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
  2. Hello! I am a 21 year old female. I recently found out I have HSV1. I am a college student so I am constantly around young people laughing and joking about STDs. I feel extremely uncomfortable anytime someone quotes The Hangover saying "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, except for herpes, that will come back with you". Also, just today many of my classmates were joking about a guy that slept with a teacher allegedly and how he got herpes from her. Their comments made me feel sick to my stomach. Talking about how dirty she was, how disgusting herpes is, and so on. I guess what I am getting at is that these situations have already come up more than a handful of times and each time I sit there silently hoping to disappear. Does anyone have advice on what to do or say in these situations? I am not exactly ready to go public about my herpes but I just wish people were better educated and understood the impact their words have. Thanks!
  3. I am having the exact same experience and was about to post the same question! Multiple times a day I will have a tingling feeling yet I haven't had an outbreak. I am still getting used to this since I was diagnosed about a month and a half ago. Any information/advice/guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Okay, that is understandable! It is very likely that I was sick at the time, causing low immunity to bring about the outbreak. Thank you
  5. Hello! I am a 21 year old female who was diagnosed with genital HSV1 a month ago. I have only had the initial outbreak that caused me to go to the doctor for testing. The medications I was given worked wonderfully to get rid of the OB. However, I have consistently felt sick with symptoms similar to what I felt before the outbreak. I have a hacking cough that produced dark green mucus, a sore throat, and a stuffed or runny nose with dark mucus as well. Does anyone know why I am still feeling this way? Since I am feeling this way constantly, how am I supposed to recognize these initial signs of an outbreak in the future? Thank you!
