  1. Hello Aries, I too had a vaginal OB but on the outter lip area. I was certain it could have been hsv2 but doc confirmed it was hsv1. Which I was confused about because I know they say hsv1 is more on the oral area which I've never experienced cold sores. Are you taking any meds for the OB?
  2. Hello, Anyone who is familiar with valtrex, please provide me with some guidance. Is valtrex ok to take on a long term basis? I took Valtrex for the 10 days when I had my first initial OB. After that I was put on valtrex when I was pregnant to prevent any OB's. I recently had my baby 2 weeks ago and haven't taken valtrex since before giving birth. But I do want to get back on it for the protection of my baby and other kiddos. What do you all recommend.
  3. So my doctor has placed me on Valtrex once a day for who knows how long....this is my second OB in almost a yes and I'm currently 20 weeks pregnant. I hate taking pills especially big pills and Valtrex is not very small haha...he says I can cut them in pieces or crush...has anyone completely crushed the pills and taken them with pudding or something?
  4. Hey guys, Ok so appears I'm experiencing my second OB...let me recap real quick. I found out I had GHSV1 last year in June when I initially had the worst OB...lasted for about 2 weeks I believe. Ever since no issues. No medicine. All has been good. As I mentioned looks like I'm having an OB for the second time and typically how long does it last before it goes away? I started noticing Saturday. I'm not in any pain or discomfort. Medicine is not necessarily required right? Any topical ointments that can help out?
  5. Hello mommies! I am currently 5 mths pregnant.. And it appears like I may be having a tiny outbreak for the second time since I found out I had HSV1...the first time I had an OB it was horrible!! My doctor initially thought I had a staph infection but then got tested and turned out it was HSV1 but not in the mouth area for me it's was the genital area. And that was back in June last year...anyways I do not take valtrex because I don't ever really breakout. And I'm assuming I did now because of the pregnancy. So since I have what appears to be a tiny OB should I let it pass on it's own or maybe apply some ointment to help. Please provide your suggestions. Thanks!
  6. Oh I see. It's good to hear positive stories. It does help give me a peace of mind. I'll talk to my doctor about all this as well once I see him. As I mentioned I haven't had any outbreak since my initial one early this year when I found out I had H. And I hope it stays that way haha. But I've heard that for some women pregnancy can cause outbreaks. So let's hope that's not my case because I hate taking those huge horse pills haha. I took them for ten days when I had my initial outbreak and ten days felt like an eternity lol. For now I'll take it one day at a time. Thank you so soooo much for giving me positive information!!!
  7. Hello MMissouri! Thank you for responding! Just like you stated I did hear that the doctor may put someone on antiviral at the end of pregnancy to avoid any complications. In my case I'll be having a c section. Had one with my first two and I'm sure he'll do a repeat c section for my third. So I guess the only risk of H while being pregnant is if you deliver vaginally right? I was just concerned if it would affect the baby's health or not. Thank you once again! It is truly comforting to know your pregnancies went perfect!
  8. Hey ladies! I just found out I'm pregnant...not sure how far along yet and I won't see my doctor until jan 10. I'm not sure if I'm at risk being pregnant and also having hsv1.i found out early this year and haven't had any other outbreaks since my initial one. I don't take meds for the H. I can say H hasn't been a problem for me. And I'm truly thankful for that. I would love if any of you could share your experience if ever got pregnant while having H and how your pregnancy went. Thank you!!!' God bless you all!
  9. Hello all! Haven't been on here in quite a while. But I do have a few questions especially for those who have had had this virus for years. 1. As far as I know this virus is not serious or dangerous...correct? 2. Is it true this virus affects our brain? I read certain things online and it's kinds scary. 3. What should I know besides herpes besides that it's a skin condition. 4. Is it recommended to take meds? I only took meds for 10 days when I had my first OB which was back in April. Since I have not had any nor continued to take meds. Thanks!
  10. Who else agrees herpes is blown out of proportion? And is not a life threatning virus. I've accepted H as I've educated myself and just like everyone says it's nothing but a skin condition. Somewhat similar to psoriasis except of course can be transmitted. When I found out I had H I was depressed and had so many mixed emotions and so much anxiety running through my body because I knew nothing about this virus, I only knew the bad things people said about H. I then started to educate myself on it. I came across an article that a doctor wrote and he called H as a joke std because it's not life threatening and simply an annoying skin condition. For whoever is struggling to accept H, just know that it WILL get better and know this doesn't change who you are. You ARE WORTHY.
  11. I think you should be familiar with your OB's now right? Are you experiencing somehing different this time?
  12. Hmmm I'm not to sure about that. I've never experienced hemorrhoids. Have you googled? But maybe Google isn't a good thing lol. I always Google things and i freak myself out.
  13. Thank you! I figured it was just still a bit sensitive. The razor cut/burn healed over night but I did notice that when I shave it is very sensitive. I'll definitely try the Epsom salt baths. I wouldn't mind relaxing in the bathtub with some wine :)
  14. Hello girls! I figured this would be more of an appropriate question for women. I've mentioned in a previous post I have HSV1 genital. Had my first outbreak memorial weekend so earlier this month. My doctor first had said it was not H and said it was a staph infection and later confirmed it was H based on the swab culture. My OB was on the side of the labia. Nothing anywhere else. Never got any burning when urinating or other symptoms they say you would experience when you are about to experience the first OB. Anyways with that said after the first OB is it normal for the area that got affected to remain sensitive for a few weeks? Reason why I am asking is because when I shave my skin gets like a razor cut/burn. I know it's not another OB because it's not there before I shave. It goes away by the next day. So now I'm thinking its best not to shave. Or wait it out a few weeks. What do you all think? I welcome all opinions! Thank you all lovely ladies!
