  1. Hello, Assuming someone has genital herpes 1. How often does the virus shed during the year? What is the risk of infecting a non infected partner through genital to genital without active lesions? Thank you
  2. this was on the outsidea skin
  3. how long would the burning last for? a couple minutes or days? I only ask because 2 years ago I woke up with a burning sensation on the genital skin-sunburn sounds right. It happened the next night as well. I can't remember how long this was before i noticed a very small irritation with bumps. Im confused because have always thought my hsv1 was oral. I know i had a small coldsore last year. Now looking back I'm not quite sure what to think and i was never swabbed orally or genitally but only had blood work done.
  4. Can anyone tell me what the burning sensation feels like for prodome GHSV1. How long does it last for? Hours? Days? thanks
  5. what does the produce buring feel like and how long does it last
  6. I had this problem 2 years ago but not since
  7. 2 years ago I woke up with a burning stinging pain on the shaft of my penis. I ran cold water over it and in the morning it was fine. The next night I had the same feeling. I did have a small red area 2 times on my penis with small bumps but not clear and they never scabbed over--The areas were also very tiny. I test positive for HSV1 from at least 3 years ago and always assumed it was because I used to get small fever spots (no bumps). Last year I had a small coldsore which had the typical tingling feeling a few hours before breaking out. I used to have little shooting pains in my penis and I thought this was due to the hpv I finally was able to get rid of. I guess im confused now as to those burning sensations and small patches. I always thought they were an allergic reaction, rough masturbation or some sort of bacterial infection. What should I do since there is really no way to distinguish between oral and genital without having something to swab? Thanks.
  8. Hello. I have had hsv1 for at least 3 years and most likely longer (blood test). I always thought the small red patches by my lip were fever blisters, but they never had any raised bumps. 2 years ago I had an instance that was ruled out because I tested negative for hsv2, and since I had prior infection of hsv1 the dr said it wasn't what he though it was. what happened was 2 week after receiving oral sex from a woman I woke up up with a burning heat on the shafts of my penis. a bit later I had a very small red area with what looked like 3 small bumps. they never turned yellow, or scabbed over and did not hurt. eventually they went away after a few weeks. If I was wrong about the initial site of infection, does this sound like an outbreak or just a rash. a year after that (about 1 year ago) I had what was definately a cold sore on the inside of my lip. so now I'm confused as to my status and what I should do going forward. what can you advise?
  9. I am not as worried but will still be concerned until I can get tested later. I was not told until after the heavy foreplay of her status. by that time there had already been intimate contact. I probably would have waited to have sex had I known. Taking all into consideration, the genital touching, heavy foreplay, but her being on valtrex for a month and symptoms free would you say I have anything serious to worry about
  10. To follow up. Would it be safe to have protected sex with a new partner until I can get tested.
  11. I will be wearing protection. i am wondering if i should abstain from sex until I can be properly tested again in a couple months or if it is ok to use protection
  12. I just found out that she had stopped valtrex for a biot but began to use it again 5 weeks ago. Is this long enough time for it to be its full effectiveness?
  13. I was told by a woman I had sex with last night that she has had HSV2 for around a year. She has had two small reoccurrences in that time. The last was 5 weeks ago. She has been on and off Valtrex but has been on it now for 5 weeks straight. Before having sex with a condom I performed oral and also engaged in genital to genital rubbing where my penis touched areas that had been initially affected. I do not have HSV2. What is my risk that I may become infected from this skin to skin contact with no visible symptoms–I am aware of viral shedding–How much does Valtrex lower my risk? Is 5 weeks of usage long enough to be effective? I have seen numbers from 5-10%
  14. How long must a woman be on daily Valtrex for the transmission rates to drop to 50% the normal. is a month sufficient enough?
  15. How long must a woman be on daily Valtrex for the transmission rates to drop to 50% the normal. is a month sufficient enough? Thank you
  16. In the meantime given the lower riisk with the valtrex, but w the genital touching, would it be better to act as if until being tested. or can I go on having protected sex and not being overtly concerned until being tested later
  17. There was also agressive manual manipulation prior to intercourse
  18. I have had oral cold sores twice, but never genitally
  19. I was tested 2 weeks ago and only carry the HSV1. The woman I had sex with has HSV2. There was genital to genital foreplay before sex. I am aware of shedding and that is my concern. As for retesting I know I will have to wait a few months to get a more accurate result.
