  2. @ihaveittoo, that makes me feel a lot better. Actually the 3rd day on the medication is so much better than the 2nd. Thanks for all the advice - seriously, some really helpful stuff!
  3. @MMissouri yea totally understandable, and that's really sad. I've actually been living abroad for so long so maybe my perspective is a bit different. In any case, my current partners are non-American, and all of them (mostly European but also elsewhere) have been concerned about getting any STDs in general. You know, to keep up a freer sex life and for protection of health. My French friend (female) discloses and doesn't seem to have a problem. I haven't disclosed yet since I just got this, but I'm quite sure they will not be too thrilled to learn about this. One thing I do know is that there is a lot of misinformation about the virus and how it's no big deal, which causes it to be spread a lot more easily.
  4. @thehippyherpy (funny name by the way), yes, I see your point about sex being a risk every time you do it. But informing them about the virus doesn't neccessarily invoke the reaction of terror. Of course reactions vary but will depend on the person. That is up to them how to feel, as open or as closed-minded they might be about the virus. It doesn't matter where they are from, too. They have the right to know - especially when they ask. PS: not true about Europeans not caring! We're talking about a life-long virus that affects your sex (and daily) life, no matter how active or inactive it is.
  5. As someone who got it from someone who didn't disclose, I wouldn't label this a "risk" but a fact. You have the virus, that's a fact. I see disclosure as respect for yourself and respect towards the other person to make decisions independently based on this fact. It's more traumatizing to have no idea when the outbreak starts and having to piece together a puzzle. I think it's fair for someone to make their own choice based on the information that is available, especially if it's something that affects their own life and body, don't you? I mean, as grown men and women, we have to make our own decisions and take responsibility for it and all that comes after it.
  6. @WCSDancer2010 @ihaveittoo Thanks to your advice, I got three more months. However, I've been dealing with this first outbreak for 7 days and this is my second day of medication. Shouldn't I feel better? I'm still really exhausted and I can feel tenderness around my spinal base.

  8. @ihaveittoo wow, thank you for that link! That's exactly the kind of information I was looking for, great blog @WCSDancer2010. :) I was dealing with a gyno at a standard hospital. She didn't offer anything else or provide any info about this condition, so that's why I'd rather just ask them for what I need first and do my own research. I didn't realize that this was a different from a suppressive prescription, so I shall send my request over today. Much appreciated, and it's so reassuring to get some advice from an H vet ;)))

I love working out and take two supplements daily: ON Gold Standard and ON Amino Energy 1) ON Gold Standard has some lysine - do you think one scoop is enough for the daily dose and to replace taking separate lysine supplements? And I see that we're not supposed to be eating chocolate (grr) but flavoring should be fine no? ;) 2) I'm pretty new to the ON Amino Energy that's coffee flavor. I've been reading that coffee isn't the best thing to drink, but I'd still like some boost during the day. Do you think that would be a safe replacement?

Hi all, I've been reading that tanning is really bad and can trigger outbreaks, but I still want to enjoy the summer and love having a slight tan always ;) Normally I tan in moderation, like a couple hours in the sun at the pool or if it's really rainy, like 10 min top at the tanning salon. And normally this is weekly or once every other week, nothing crazy! Any recommendations? Like will covering the special gift area in the tanning salon, minimize outbreaks, etc? Thanks again xx
  12. What about after the outbreak, like the shedding time? Would you recommend waiting a certain amount of time before going to the salon?
  13. Hi all, So I am living abroad, and the doctor emailed me my tests and said I had HSV2 and then said my prescription was waiting at the hospital and to pick it up. And that was that. (I was so shocked at the low education given to someone that got a positive test result!) They gave me a 500mg tab pack with 14 pills, and they couldn't give more because it's prescription. But I've been seeing some people take daily Valtrex if they are sexually active or feeling an outbreak, etc and I was wondering what the normal case is. From what I've been reading, the first year tends to have the most outbreaks and often more intense. So I'd like to be prepared and not have to go back to the hospital all the time to refill. 1) Would you mind sharing your experiences with how this works with the meds? 2) I'm going to try to stock up on some supplements like lysine. Any brands or types you'd recommend? This experience has been rather excruciating! Thanks all! xx
  14. Hi there, I am a 30 year old female living in China and was recently diagnosed. I would love to have a buddy to talk to. I am trying to figure out now how to take care of my body as it adjusts to the virus. I love living an active life and want to keep it up :)
