  1. @optimist thanks for the info. I took a minute to look over the handbook. Like I said to jl13, I've had hsv-1 since I was a baby (2 years old is when had primary oral outbreak). So, before going for my blood test next week, just doing some research since I learned hsv is not regularly tested for during routine std panels.
  2. @jl13 I've had hsv-1 since I was a toddler. I am now 30 years old. So, I'm just curious if there's a pattern with hsv-2 carriers whom also have hsv-1 and if the new infection has been affected at all. I'm going next week to be tested (17 weeks post last encounter and no outbreaks that I'm aware of).
  3. Here's a question for the community: If a person already has oral herpes, how does that affect a newly acquired genital infection? Does it lessen the severity of outbreaks "down there"? Since most genital herpes positives have mild/no symptoms, is that because most of them also have oral herpes?
  4. HopefulHerpy, have you considered ordering the Western Blot for confirmation? a 1.02 is a low-positive, which means it could be a false positive.
  5. I was also wondering, is it possible to repeatedly test negative for herpes and then all of a sudden have an outbreak?
  6. On September 25th, I had unprotected sex with a friend of mine. Because I freaked out over the encounter, I asked my partner to be tested. He had said he hadn't had sex since mid June-early July timeframe. He had twho negative igg tests (October 18, November 21). So, his tests were done 3-4 months post his last sexual encounter, prior to me. Now, I am a very anxious person, I suffer from generalized anxiety disorder. I feel I should still be tested. On January 15h it'll be 16 weeks post his and my encounter. I will note that earlier in 2016, I had an igg test done and it was negative. Prior to that I had not had any sexual encounters in 2 years. My question is this.... should I even be worried at this point? And when I take the test, if it is negative, should I consider it a definite answer and just let it go? I read that HerpeSelect tests are 95% accurate and that figure is making me rather nervous. I'm afraid of testing negative and then experiencing some sort of outbreak later on.
