  1. I've heard of people having hair loss/thinning on valtrex.. any experiences with this while on acyclovir?
  2. Anybody else get swollen gums before oral herpes outbreak?
  3. I am so afraid to ever disclose in fear that the person will freak out and say no and tell other people and it will spread like wild fire. I feel like I can't attempt to date anyone remotely close to my hometown. Any insight on this or experiences? This being said, I don't know of one person besides myself and obv the guy who gave it to me... which seems odd because where I'm from everyone talks so I feel like I would have heard of at least one person who has it, if it's so common.
  4. Pros/cons on each, and which one do you prefer? Hsv1 oral and genital.
  5. How do you know if you are having an outbreak or a yeast infection? I have intermittent itching for past month, no sores just itching. I take valtrex here and there when it gets bad but it hasn't completely gone away.
  6. I was dx the day afterChristmas with ghsv1 and oral hsv1, as well as trichomoniasis. I took the meds that were prescribed to me and everything went away. Lately it's been itchy/ almost a dry/raw feeling, so I've been taking Valacyclovir pretty much daily lately, but it hasn't completely gone away. My diet hasn't been "herpe friendly". Does the diet really make a huge impact on it? Any thoughts on what to do?
  7. I am starting to take a suppressive dose of valtrex and have read online that it can cause hair loss... is this true?

    Hsv 1

So the blood test came back positive for hsv1... I had an oral and genital outbreak. I'm curious, what does this mean in the future for oral sex or if a partner fingers me? Can I give/receive oral? Can someone send me a link with the statistics of spreading for future reference?
  10. Hello. So it's officially been 1 month since my dx of H. I lost all of my confidence and self esteem. I ended up getting tinder in hopes to make myself feel desirable again. Anyways it has helped talking to guys but I always question who would still be interested after knowing about my situation. I consider trying herpe specific dating sites/apps but that sketches me out. What do you all feel like you have better luck with; dating herpe positive people or people without it. I just feel like it is going to be impossible to date someone without herpes.
  11. Ok pretty sure I have hsv1 oral and gen (getting blood drawn tomorrow to ease my mind).. partner's blood tested positive for hsv1. I just left my doc appt and she said there's no difference between the 2 and docs are starting to drop the 1 and 2 and just call it hsv. Is this true? After reading on here and on internet it sounds like there is a difference.
  12. Kind of regretting asking this, I feel like shit. But it's reality. I don't think it's as common as I was hoping.
  13. Everyone says how common this is, I can say I don't personally know of anyone with it (probably because it's not something people just regularly tell others). I really wish I knew just one person who has it. It came to my realization after thinking about this (because that's all I tend to do lately--think about this)... and I have been a nurse for 5 years now and I recall seeing hsv in a patients medical history maybe one time... is this not normally listed in a patients chart? I feel like an outcast even tho everyone says it's so common and it's all around me.
  14. Not even a month into diagnosis, hsv1 oral and gen... 27 yo female... Need some friends who can relate.
