  1. It's been a year & a half since finding out I have HSV1 & 2 plus HPV as well. So I was devastated at first until I met a man that has accepted me regardless. He tested negative for all STI's. The problem is that he won't use condoms and I am afraid that he will get herpes eventually and HPV. We have oral sex often, so far he hasn't had any symptoms but I'm so worried about it these days. I have had a couple of small outbreak during the last year and we never have sex during that week. What are the chances that he will contract it?
  2. I know exactly how you're feeling- I've had the same experience. I've been with the same man since my dx last June. I'm on Acyclovir and have had 2 outbreaks in the last year. We have had unprotected sex and once I had an outbreak the next day after we had sex so he was exposed for sure. However, he has accepted the fact that he may contract it at any given time regardless of my having an outbreak or not, because shedding is occuring anytime. We can't predict the future- just being optimistic.
  3. I was diagnosed June 2017, it was a complete shock & I was devastated at first. Prior to the dx- had been dating alot meeting lots of nice guys online. At the time, was just starting to see one guy when we decided to get tested before committing into a serious relationship. What a shock when the results came back! He was negative while I tested positive for both. He was very shocked & reacted negatively towards me- I was devastated. We didn't see each other for several months, however, I met a man on a HSV dating site and we started seeing each other. Then the man I had been seeing prior, wanted to see me again. So fast forward to the present - we are now together and he has accepted me as I am , knowing that he is at risk of contracting this "gift". We are in a monogamous relationship and quite happy these days.
  4. It's been about a month now since my diagnosis. Some days are harder than others, trying to be "normal" , being myself, living my life to the fullest I can only hope to find love again, the stigma is real- we can't escape it....
  5. I was recently diagnosed after starting a new relationship, we both decided to get tested. We went ahead & had unprotected sex before the tests came back. Mine came back positive, but he hasn't gotten his results back yet. My dr. says because of my numbers on the lab results are high- most likely I had it for sometime, probably got it from my ex, since we were married for almost 30 yrs. It's been a devastating blow- he stopped talking to me since & if his test comes back positive, he will hate me forever.....I have no one to confide in, this is the only place I can talk about my feelings, have been very depressed, everyday I wake up, first thing that comes to mind is H positive
  6. @optimist thanks for the link to the reference guide. There is so much information out that it tends to be confusing- bad enough to try to accept & understand what new changes this dreadful virus will bring to my life situation
  7. @NothingGoodGetsAway I meant to address the question to, sorry about the confusion. D
  8. @Katidid you mention that oral is okay for the guy to perform on you even though he could easily contract it right? I am newly diagnosed & told by the dr that I've probably had it for sometime & it's been asymptomatic. I have both types of herpes-1 & 2. Thanks in advance for any feedback/comments. Feeling devastated at the moment.
  9. Hello- I was diagnosed a few days ago, but my doc thinks I've had it for a long time, didn't know or have symptoms except yrs ago when I was younger & didn't know or get tested back then, since then was married for almost 30 yrs, divorced almost 2 yrs ago & recently got back into dating so have been intimate w/several men & decided to get tested with the most recent man I have been with- shocking to find out I have both HSV1 & 2. He didn't take the news very well, it is devastating news. Los Angeles Ca. area if anyone is open to talk, need any advice or support. Thanks, D
