  1. I'm 33 and am also struggling with constant symptoms and don't know exactly how to manage this disease. I was diagnosed 2 months ago and have basically been taking Acyclovir the whole time. I've had 2 outbreaks but still feel discomfort most the time. The Acyclovir now makes my eyes blood shot and hurt. Has anyone experienced that. My skin is also just red and raw sometimes with no outbreak. Could this be from the meds. My doctor doesn't seem to have answers for me, rather trial and error technique.
  2. That's great, good to see uplifting stories. Thanks for sharing!
  3. I was tested positive for HSV2 a couple weeks ago with an initial ob of sores. I have gone through horrible flu like symptoms, pain and discomfort with the sores, joint pain, nausea, no appetite, and now bladder retention. My doc started me on an anti viral med immediately which seem to heal up the sores quickly and all other symptoms slowly went away except for the bladder retention. I ended up in urgent care because suddenly I couldn't pee much more than a few drops if that. I ended up on a catheter and taking antibiotics for what they thought was a UTI. The second test showed negative for a UTI, the doctors didn't have answers for me which is why I joined this forum. I have seen some other people having bladder retention with HSV2. Slowly I am starting to pee better on my own. I have "tricks" like running the water, taking a bath, drinking small amounts at a time, kegels, relax yoga poses and such. The herpes seem to have taken over my entire body in the past 2 weeks and I am taking it one day at a time. Everyone says the 1st OB is the worst. I hope this is true. If anyone has bladder retention or advice on the matter that would be great. My doctor said my next step is to go to a urologist.
