  1. So - I have read everything Terri Warren talks about and her handbook.. I’ve even paid money to have my questions answered (which she does). She has repeatedly said to me she has never seen anyone with GHSV 1 get worse. BUT. I have had GHSV 1 for 6 years now. First year big first outbreak and a couple of small others, then it all died down and a couple of completely minor outbreaks over 5 years that really were no worse than a pin prick and gone in 3-5 days with no anti virals. Cut to this year. A LOT of stress, anxiety, emotional distress due to various life events, an over active mind etc. Plus I stupidly took sleeping pills which actually make my sleep lest restful and my low moods lower (been off them for 7 months now). So i am having outbreaks every 2-3 months. Which are not horrendous, but a bit worse than the mild ones I’ve experienced over the 6 years. I’ve had them swabbed PCR DNA every time comes back with HSV 1. `The supposedly milder form. Terri Warren is great, to an extent, but it seems to me the doctors dont really take into account the real experiences... They all say it gets better over time etc - they never mention it may flare up to be worse for a bit. So all those with real life experience of this - I am getting myself back on track - working on the anxiety, lifestyle etc - has anyone had similar experiences of it flaring up and then once you\ve got things in order within yourself the virus going back to its ‘typical’ personal pattern? The cycle feels difficult to break right now. I took Valacyclovir for the most recent outbreak (first time antiviral) and so far it seems to have stopped the bump from opening and dying down pretty quick, which frankly helps to feel like maybe I finally have a little control over this supposedly minor skin issue! Would love to hear from you xx
  2. Just a thought, BUT the only time i ever had the pinching and prickling shocks that you describe is when I decided to try acyclovir for an outbreak. I have GHSV1 also (i have had more than one outbreak but very minor and not really frequent.). I realised that those sensations were side effects of the meds. Apparently if you want to be on them long term you should start by building up the dose slowly so your body gets used to it, but to be honest, for me, the side effects from the drugs were worse than any outbreak I've ever had (ok maybe not the primary). It took about 2 weeks after I came off the acylovir for all those sensations to settle down!
  3. For instance, I had a bump appear yesterday. Tonight I checked on it and it popped. Like a pimple. It was a pimple. Herpes WILL have you flustered out of your mind. I feel crazy. Thanks for responding Highwayqueen! I think because I’ve had around 3 recurrences since my primary 6 years ago I’m quite familiar with the signs. For me there is definitely a little (really minor) burning literally just before a bump appears that very quickly turns into an almost pin sized sore that’s barely even sore. They are pretty minor but I know not friction as they take about 4 days to heal and last time it happened I finally got it swabbed. I’ve never ‘itched’ with any of this ever. (I say that as I hear many people talk about crazy itching!) I know since I got this though I could almost pinpoint where the virus has decided to live my sacrum. As I get twinges frequently there now when I’m not having recurrences. Could be my head but.... It’s really good to hear that no ones rejected you. I feel a little frustrated with genital HSV 1 as from what I gather (and please someone correct me if I’m wrong) if we were to have it orally the virus would be far more contagious from our mouths due to much higher shedding rates from its site of preference? Any partner would be more at risk if we had it orally?
  4. Is there anyone on this forum that has had GHSV 1 for 5+ years? I'm interested on hearing about your outbreak frequency and if you've ever passed it on to anyone from the genitals? I've only recently been diagnosed as Type 1 - now know my primary was 6 years ago - and have infrequent minor outbreaks every couple of years. I'm now out of the relationship with the guy that gave me this gift from his coldsores and trying (very hard!) to keep a level head while getting back into the dating game...Very aware of the current stats on GHSV 1 but interested in personal stories more...
  5. ok so I had the second sore PCR swabbed. It is GHSV1. Can anyone with GHSV 1 comment on their recurrence rate? I seem to be getting something every 2-3 years. Minor - clears up in 4/5 days. Could it go longer? Its been about 6 years since i know I got this... would love to hear from people....Having a bit of a hard time in my head even though i know all the stats. Has anyone ever passed GHSV1 on genitally? For absolute sure? Thanks....
  6. I also live in the UK. i finally got my swab after 6 years of thinking I may have GHSV1 and yes it was positive this week. I can tell you after my first outbreak my body went wild. For at least 6 months. And this was with GHSV 1. Obviously never been exposed before. Everything was weird. I didnt itch but had tingling. I can promise you this though - so many people on this forum have said it in other threads - literally when the one year mark hit its like someone flicked a switch and things went back to normal. Literally. I've had a couple of recurrences in 6 years, but seriously minor and yes I get a twinge or two. i've had spots on my face that hurt more to be honest. I have never taken anti virals as the outbreaks since have been so minor and I wanted by body to build its own army first. It will get better. it WILL. x
  7. Hi Guys - what a great forum! Thanks for having me. I'll try and break it down. About 6 years (January 2012) ago I broke out in a massive rash with sort of un-painful sores around my anus and genitals. The area was uncomfortable but sores weren't painful. I had both my GP and a private sexual health clinic look at it. Both said bad thrush infection - NO ONE swabbed! I was pretty convinced that i had got herpes as both guys I had been with over the space of two months suffered from cold sores. 5 months later I had what, I believe now, was my first recurrence just under my vaginal opening. One largish painless sore that started with a bit of burning cleared up in 10 days. 5 months after that a second recurrence that was about an inch away more on my inner bum cheek. has some leg nerve stuff happen just before i noticed it. That lasted about a week. I was nervous to get it checked out for whatever reason. 2 years went by and nothing then a little rough sex and i got one tiny sore about two days after (burning preceeded) that cleared up in about 5-7 days and virtually painless. 3 years go by again which leads me to new years eve 2017 just gone. Fooled around with a pretty young gorgeous guy who was quite inexperienced and quite rough with his hands! (we did not have sex). I woke up new years day quite bruised and sore down below. That took about 24 hours to calm down but low and below 72 hours later I got a sore under my vaginal opening again. So finally went and got it swabbed. Its come back positive (PCR DNA SWAB) for HSV TYPE 1. Just as I thought. However about 24 hours after that sore appeared and after I'd had the swab another sore popped up a little to the left of it. Usually I have only had one sore pop up (or so I think). I was pretty raw after the new years eve madness from all the fingering and dry humping which makes me think I was way more sensitive down there (also completely run down, lack of sleep etc). Is it usual to sometimes have a bit worse of an outbreak with a couple of sores for GHSV1? None of it is severe. The original sore i had swabbed has healed in 5 days and the second one on its way out. I guess I maybe a little paranoid that it could be HSV2 as well? odds are not and its just a bit of a worse outbreak of type 1 due to all factors mentioned above? would a sore popping up in a recurrence 24hours after the first one be just the same? Any experience with GHSV1 recurrences would be much appreciated. I believe the time scale for my recurrences are consistent with the average recurrence rate for GHSV1 if you are going to get recurrences so to speak. one mild every 2/3 years. To note - I have only had one full on sexual partner in all this time ( I believe he is who i caught my hSV1 off after oral 6 years ago). The 2nd guy was a no sex fumble (a few weeks before i met full on sexual partner0 and the young guy on new years was a no sex rough drunken fumble!!!
