  1. Recently diagnosed with hsv-1 and find myself paranoid everything is a pre-OB symptom. Need some help. first diagnosed about 2.5 weeks ago with painful lesions on my labia. They cleared up about 1.5 weeks ago and I’ve been taking daily suppressing valtrex since. Since they cleared up though I’ve been having tingling feelings, especially on my butt cheeks, and then the last four days I’ve had increased discharge again like during my first OB and lots of itching and feelings of anal fissure. I’ve been inspecting compulsively though and no bumps or lesions, and no pain. Is this just after affects of the first OB? Is this a second OB? Is this signs a second OB is coming? Looking for some reassurance. I’m worried I had sex too soon after. I had sex a little over a week after the lesions cleared and that’s when the itching and tingling really started.
  2. Hello Everyone, I will try to be brief, I got a call from my ex-girlfriend a week after we broke up, saying how she went to the doctors and because of a paper cut got tested for HSV. Four days later she told me she tested positive for HSV and another std which she wouldn't tell me what it was, only that is was curable. I also couldn't see the diagnoses because she claims they don't have a website, she only received a call(yeah i know, Weird Odd mind games) After that i started to look up symptoms all the while experiencing very slight symptoms like itching and irritation. Tried to get off Mr. google for a while because i thought it was making me paranoid, and scheduled a few doctors appointments and std tests. While the docs did a physical exam, One said i was just thinking too much and it was folliculitis causing the itchiness and irritation. A week later, another said i most likely had Hemorrhoids and not herpes due to anus/perineum(area between scrotum and anus) Itching/stinging, and i didn't have any OB's, cuts or lesions so they could not do a swab but tried to let me know that herpes was in fact very common and the stigma associated is what makes having it worse than what it actually is. The most common stds, chlamydia, gonorrhea, trich all came back negative. Fast forward a month and I'm having constant mild-ish itching and irritation that comes up for a little while then stops, or flares up on occasion, like on my bum when I'm sitting or wearing tight clothes, In the areas of my butt, hips, lower back, knees, legs, arms basically most of my body all besides my penis lol. But no pain, nothing hurts, no visible rash, just feels like one. Maybe stinging every once a while on like the edge of my anus(which makes be believe hemorrhoids) or at night or right in the morning after a shower. No swollen lymph nodes, fever or blisters, hard to tell if i have flu like symptoms because it would only last for an hour or two if I'm tired or nauseous/headache, nothing would last to were it would be concerning. I blame my diet and life style mostly for that. I'm waiting two more months before i do a blood test, but i want to know has anyone experienced this or close to it? And also what are y'all thoughts? Just lots of confusion, never experienced an STD before just kinda sucks it might be this one, lol. All i know is something is definitely different with my body and i don't know what..., also i have noticed that its quite a bit of depression within the forum posts, its understandable considering my first week with Mr. google was Stressful to say the least, but i just want to say " to experience Life in of its self and to wake up every morning with a breath is priceless"! Thank you to who ever responds, and have a great day! 🙂
  3. Hello and thank you for the help (M, 36). Im here today because I called out of work due to stress about herpes. This has been an emotional month. I want to share my story for support and feedback. Im very down and drained. Anxiety is killing me mentally and physically. On 8/7 I kissed and received oral from a woman who claims she is clean and has been tested in june. The weeks prior to this I had been having a lot of sex and masterbation. The months prior to this encounter I noticed I had trouble starting to urinate and it would take a while to start. I noticed my penis was soar and my sperm looked different (thick) 1.5 weeks prior to this encounter. Anyway about a week or so after this encounter I began to have a constant burning in my penis, my scrotum was red, and burning in my prostate area. I immediately implanted in my mind it was herpes and it was all i could think about. I was hoping it was a UTI and dealt with it for about 10 days before seeing the doctor. It burned every day all day and night. It seemed like my penis was shriveled and my libedo was zero. Small erections when i would first wake up. I went to the doctor and told her what happened. I showed her my penis and she couldn't see any soars. She took some blood and had me tested. I went home that day distraught. I noticed 3 small white bumps on the inside of my lip that same evening. That freaked me out too. The bumps did not tingle or burn and disappeared in 2 days. No blisters, soars, or scabbing. (Please let me know what you think of the bumps). That was odd and a real curveball. The lab work was done on a Thursday and the doctor was closed friday. It was labor day weekend and i was told i wouldn't find out the results until Tuesday. That weekend was hell. Every second of every day was a nightmare. I called the doctor on Tuesday and was told she had left for a personal issue and to call the next day. Doctor called me back and said IGG was negative but ImG was reactive. I panicked. She told me vaguely about the Img test how it doesn't say much but I have had a recent exposure. I told her about the constant burning in my privates still and she prescribed 1gram of Valtrex for 10 days. I was and am crushed as a person. I would go to work, barely make it through, and go straight home. I would anxiously await until 730pm when i would take the valtrex and tylenol PM. I would then sit in the shower with hot hot water pouring on me. Felt like the only relief i would get is in the shower. I started to noticed a tingling sensation shooting around my face and right eye. It felt weird and produced even more anxiety. My tongue was very dry and i noticed a irritated area on the side of my tongue that is oval in shape and red. This freaked me out as well. 6 days on valtrex and no relief. On the 6th day after diagnosis my doctor called my phone at 6:00pm. I missed the call and she left a message for me to call the office in the am. I thought that was odd as it was so late. Maybe she wanted to call to check in? I called the next day and spoke to the office. The woman i spoke to said this "We got new lab work back for your HSV test and the results are negative". I couldn't believe it and still don't. I asked if I should stop the valtrex and they said yes. I was emotional and I heard the doctor in background say "He has nothing to worry about". This still did not provide comfort as i have researched this virus. I told them about the burning and they want me to go to a urologist. I'm so confused and broken. I was told i have herpes and was given valtrex. What test did they get back six days later? Im so lost and depressed. Staring at my body waiting for soars or blisters to come that never do or haven't yet. The tongue thing, the tingling in my face, the racing consuming thoughts of having this condition then being told you don't. I deep down don't believe them. Thank you in advance as i really need help from the H community on this forum. This forum is probably one of the only things keeping me from complete shut down and loss of life as i knew it i.e job, friends, interests....Thank you.
  4. I've just been diagnosed with HSV2 and am currently having my first outbreak. I've read that leg and foot nerve pain is a common symptom and aside from dealing with that I am also extremely fatigued most of the time. To the point that I occasionally don't think I can walk a very short distance because my energy is so low. Does anyone else have any experience with extremely low energy during an initial outbreak or just an outbreak in general?
  5. Hi there, Long story short, I’ve had HSV1 for what I believe to be about ten years now. However, I only found out my official diagnosis (igg blood test) recently, after having strange nerve pains in my groin area. It’s a very complicated story, but I had what I believe to be a (traumatic) genital outbreak when I was merely 16 - and being young, naive, and ashamed, never got it diagnosed. I know, not good. Since no other outbreak has occurred, it was kind of forgotten / suppressed after some time. Nothing was there to remind me of it or the what-ifs. Flash forward into a long term relationship with a great man, and I get confirmation I’m HSV1 positive. It’s safe to say I probably have it both genitally and orally, though I’m not 100% (my mom says I’ve had cold sores in the past). I’ve had this nerve pain all throughout my bum and lady parts for about a month now, which is why I got tested to begin with. Shocks. Sharp pains. Dull aches. Pinching and pricking. A week after it first started, I had a visual exam with my OBGYN, who did not find any lesions. I’ve been checking myself everyday since - nothing. But this shocking, pricking, pinching, and dull aching pain is still there (off and on). I’m on my 12th day of Valtrex and it hasn’t subsided. The reason I’m on Valtrex is because my SO is negative for h1 and h2. He got tested around the same time as me, same test. I was finally feeling normal for a couple days and after a month of abstinence, we decided to have sex. We used a condom. I did not have any visible sores, though I understand now there’s a chance they could be internal. Almost two days later, he has what I believe to be “flu like symptoms”- sore throat, coughing, no appetite, feverish, just an overall off feeling. He says it’s post nasal drip. He also has anxiety (bless us both) and thinks he’s starting to develop tingling down there. It’s been exactly 3 days now since intercourse. I guess I have a couple questions: 1. Would he develop flu like symptoms like this, including the post nasal drip, that soon after sex? I’d say they developed in 36-48 hours. What do flu like symptoms even mean in the cases of genital herpes? Do they come before the blisters do? 2. I understand that Genital to Genital transmission of HSV1 (especially female to male) is extremely rare. We used a condom, but should I still have reason to worry? I’ve had ghsv1 for ten years now with no outward OBs - isn’t there even less of a risk? Are there any males here who got gHsv1 from intercourse (not oral)? 3. I had been on Valtrex for ten days by the time we had intercourse. Again, no lesions. Wouldn’t this have protected us? Wouldn’t it protect me from getting an OB? Or would it simply prevent an OB from fully surfacing (under my skin feelings make me feel like I’m contagious)? My doctor chocks up my symptoms of nerve sensations to anxiety, again and again, but I’m not convinced. Is it possible that with a condom, ten days of Valtrex, and no visible sores, that I passed this along? Finally, would a condom help if I did have an internal outbreak after all? I understand that hsv1 sucks, but that it’s not harmful or affecting my quality of life in any way. However, I worry for my boyfriend who is scared more than ever. He’s accepted the risk, yes, but I’m not sure how he’ll handle the actual reality of it. I don’t know how I’d handle it either. Thanks for listening- and for your input. Turned out to be pretty long after all!
  6. Out of curiosity, does anyone else get strange inexplicable nerve pains? I’ve been told that they could be a symptom of HSV2, but I can’t be entirely certain. I will occasionally get twinges of extreme localized pain in my extremities, but the worst is the pain in my skin. It’s an almost excruciating feeling sometimes, just on the surface of my skin. It can reach a point where it hurts to have a blanket or clothing touching whatever area is being affected, but a firm touch isn’t nearly as painful. It can happen anywhere too, but it does seem to happen near my inner thighs and labia majora more often than other places. It can cover anywhere from a few inches of skin at a time to both of my legs at once. Any similar experiences that you think may be herpes related?
