Swollen groin lymph nodes

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

ever since I had my first outbreak 9 months ago I haven’t had another outbreak but I’ve had daily prodrome symptoms....

noticed my groin lymph nodes are inflamed/swollen on both sides....it’s been like this for months.

I do not have a fever and am not nauseous at all....my periods have also been lighter and shorter since HSV...

has this happened to anyone else?

thinking of going on daily valtrex to see if it helps with the lymph node inflammation/pain but valtrex makes my face really dry and red and my heart race if I take it....

maybe I should try acyclovir instead?

This is pretty common to have swollen lymph nodes, even when not having active outbreaks. This tends to chill out after about the year mark for most folks so hopefully it will for you, too! And yes, if valtrex doesn't work for you, acyclovir would be the next best bet. You'll just need to take acyclovir twice a day (morn/eve) as opposed to valtrex being once a day. But it works just as well (I've been taking acyclovir for years with no problems).
