How Careful/Honest Do I Need To Be?

Hey everyone,

I have HSV1 genitally. I either caught or transferred this from my lip last year. Orally my outbreaks are very rare and subtle, barely lasting a few hours or a day, at most. 

Two-thirds of the planet carry some form of HSV; given the prominence of HSV1, when asymptomatic I’ve never had any discussion in advance around kissing or oral sex. 

There seems to be a different culture with HSV1 genitally, though. Are others really likely to get it genitally too if I’m asymptomatic? Is it best practice to warn them in advance?

Same situation- except I’ve never had a cold sore, and I’m pretty sure I caught HSV1 from oral sex. What did you decide to do about disclosure?
