Currently in my first outbreak

Recommended Posts

So about 7 days ago I had some really bad stress at work and the next thing I know I have two cold sores on my lips. I have never had cold sores before but they didn’t hurt or anything so I went to the store and got abreva for them. About three days after that I started getting sores all over the inside of my mouth and looks like the back of my throat. I had horrible flu like symptoms. The pain in my legs and my head was horrible. I had a fever for 3 days. The pain in my legs is gone the pain in my head is gone (not headache it was like a sharp pain on the side of my head) the itching is gone but all the sores in my mouth are still here and it’s very hard to eat and drink. I have had no appetite for two days now but forcing myself to eat a little. I’m going to the doctor later today to get this checked out.
my questions are

1.) do you always get the flu like symptoms with every outbreak or was it just because it was my first time?

2.) am I always going to get cold sores inside my mouth and throat or is it just because it’s my first time?

3.) any suggestions on what I can do to speed up the healing process?

4.) do you get the leg pain when you have oral herpes or do you think that’s a sign I could have genital herpes too? I have no redness or itching in the genital area at all.

I think that’s all for now.
thank you for your help and time

On average, the first outbreak is always the worst and most of the time accompanied with flu like systems.  Symptoms with reoccurring outbreaks should be less severe and flu like symptoms shouldn't happen.

I am not sure about the leg pain being connected to gential herpes as the flu like symptoms could have caused body aches.  I would wait until you have symptoms and get them stabbed.

You can go to a doctor and get the cold sores swabbed and they can prescribe antiviral medications to help.

Hope you start feeling better.
