I think I have cold sores..not sure...

Recommended Posts

i feel so low..I think I have contracted hsv1..I've reached out to my local health department & have had all tests done, except hsv1&2 because they dont offer it...and my PCP basically told me they don't test for it unless there's an active outbreak 😞

my lips have been tingling and slightly burning for a few days...swelled a little and now they look like this..I'm worried I may have spread it to my genitals..they tingle and slightly burn as well but I don't see anything.. does this look like hsv1 to anyone else??? Help please 😞

@KatIsme
I'm really sorry you're feeling this way, and I know it can be really stressful place to be. It's tough when you're not able to get clear answers from your health department or doctor, but unfortunately super common. Tingling and burning can be early signs of HSV-1, but without a proper test or an active outbreak, it’s hard to know for sure. It’s also possible for HSV-1 to spread to other areas of the body (called auto-inoculation), but it’s not super common.

Try To make it a priority to be kind to yourself right now—try not to panic. Maybe check out another local STD clinic for testing options (swab and/or blood test). And in the meantime, keep an eye on your symptoms and stay in touch with your doctor if anything changes. Also, refrain from touching the affected areas and wash your hands regularly to prevent spreading anything further. You're not alone, and it’s great you’re reaching out for support.

Let us know if you have any other questions and how things progress, okay? Big hugs!
