Herpes Drug Trials: Pritelivir Update

There was some talk a few weeks ago about this drug trial and the promise it held for reducing outbreaks and viral shedding. I came across this article just today that sheds some more light on the trial, the observed effect on shedding, and where it stands with the FDA right now.

 

It's an interesting read, and while not a cure, it does look like it might be an effective tool towards helping us protect our H- partners in the future.

It's hitting the newspapers..... that's promising :)

 

But this isn't:

 

A larger trial was planned for later this year, but at the moment further clinical research with the drug is on hold. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration suspended such research after monkeys given doses much greater than those in the new study showed some unexpected blood and skin abnormalities. :(

No one will care about your herpes if the drugs turn you purple or something :D it would take away the having to disclose though.... maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all lol.
