Does smoking trigger herpes outbreaks?

just wondering if i smoke a cigarette from time to time will trigger a herpes outbreak?

I've been smoking twice as much since I found out. For me, no impact whatsoever on outbreaks or prodomes. Everyone's triggers are different. You'll just have to find yours. For some, periods, stress, lack of sleep, diet, sex, exercise, etc. can all trigger outbreaks. You may find out that you don't have to change your lifestyle at all; you may find you have to modify it a little or a lot. Unfortunately, there is no standard set of rules for this virus.

Strawberrygirl, While we all hope we don't get more outbreaks in the future, the chances of that are slim. I still get 2-3 a year. It's important to remember all the positive things you have found on here while having an outbreak. Maybe try suppressive therapy as well :)

The one thing that is a definite is this: The better you take care of your mind, body and - er - soul, the better all of that takes care of you. No one thing will be a direct correlation to getting herpes outbreaks every time, but if you don't pay attention to most of the above, then your immune system won't have the energy to take care of you. Look at it more in a holistic way of taking care of yourself instead of whether a cigarette here and there will be direct triggers for outbreaks. How can you take the most care of yourself? Even if you ultimately decide to continue smoking cigarettes?

I smoke, and nothing down there yet since my initial outbreak. I also am on medicine though, could be helping.

i think it does for me. I'm an occasional smoker ( a cigarette here and there when drinking). However, everything seems to be a trigger for me ;). It kind of makes sense though-cigarettes are bad for our bodies. I guess you just gotta try!
