Is it ok to take medication if I'm uncertain it's a herpes outbreak?

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I have a quick question - I have genital HSV1 and I'm not sure if I'm about to have an outbreak. I don't feel normal. I wouldn't say it's that tingling feeling but I can't explain it, I just don't feel right.

When I was diagnosed, my dr gave me valtrex to take for when I feel an OB coming on. I'm not sure if this will be an OB or not but are there any consequences of taking the valtrex if it's not an OB?

Valtrex is a drug that will not affect anything except the virus. It doesn't "activate" until it's in contact with the virus. One of the great things is that once you learn your symptoms, you can pop a couple pills quickly and early and most of the time you will knock it right back into it's Nerve Ganglion home ... and if it's something else, you just wasted a couple pills but it's not going to do you any harm. So pop that pill ... odds are, within a couple doses you will know if you are right ... and my body is to a point that I only need to take 1 or 2 doses to knock it right out....
