is herpes most popular here in the uk or the us

Popular? Not sure that's the right word. Not many people want to meet Mr. Herpster or have him come and sleep in the same bed.

I think the word you're looking for is common. That's a good question. HSV1 is more common in England, and HSV2 is more common in the US. That said, Greenland has us all beat with nearly 100% having HSV1, and 70% having HSV2. Guess we don't have to wonder what they're doing to warm up those long winter nights...

Given that the NHS won't prescribe anti vials for suppression I'm going to guess that H Is at least as common as it is here. .. they are doing nothing to try to slow the spread. ... I'm sure if you Google it you can find the stats .. I'm on my phone right now so it's not as easy for me to get the info

thanks for your feedback guys.

yes I agree @HerryTheHerp popular wasn't the best word to use but you get my drift lol

as a young lady from London I think the uk has little services for h and almost no awareness services. maybe im destined to make this happen

I think a lot of us would benefit from some sort of in person group meeting or something along them lines.

The vast majority of the medical field consider herpes as a "Don't worry about it, no big deal" human ailment. So it doesn't surprise me even now in countries around the world it's still poorly educated to the public and understanding. stats on Greenland made me chuckle a bit.

Hi Naomi,

I come from Europe too and I would say that the statistic should be similar to the US but Europeans talk less about H which is a big problem . I never heart any herpes joke in my live.....seems to be more a American thing :) .

I remember that somebody from this website told me that there is once a month a herpes meeting in London ....well actually its more like a little party in a bar but maybe it would help if you go there and meet some people who know what you going through ( think she said she contacted somebody on herpes.org.uk )

enjoy your day

thanks so much @Judith for the information. I just look it up and plan on attending the one in June as I just missed the meting for this month.

also I totally agree with you @VirusEnhanced that h is downplayed as 'no big deal' however psychologically the effects it has is quite serious in my opinion

I have readed that the incidence of genital herpes in the Northern European countries and US is very similar. But in the Mediterranean countries the rate of people with VHS is half than in the US.

I´m from Spain like you, and I think that there is very unusual heard about herpes.

And, as far as I know there aren't any supporting groups there.
