Delayed Menstrual Cycle... Connected to Valtrex?

Hey everyone! This question is posed primarily to women who are using/have used Valtrex suppressive therapy to manage their H, although I do appreciate all feedback. I am a fairly regular person, as far as my period goes :P, but I noticed after beginning my suppressants that my period is late. I am definitely not pregnant, and I'm no longer on birth control. I was also told by my GYN that Valtrex use can counteract birth control pills. Anyone have any experience with this?

Well, if you go on www.rxlist.com/valtrex-side-effects-drug-center.htm or http://www.webmd.com/drugs/drug-14126-Valtrex+Oral.aspx?drugid=14126&drugname=Valtrex+Oral&pagenumber=6 neither one says anything about it delaying periods - only possibly causing more painful periods.

 

I have NEVER ever heard of it counteracting the birth control pills. I looked it up on several sites and can't find anything that would indicate that it would affect BC ... Valtrex is an Anti-VIRAL, not an AntiBiotic .... antibiotics can affect BC so not sure if he/she somehow got them confused? Best bet is to ask a pharmacist - they know better than any Dr will (it's their job!)... but it should be fine.
