tmi kind of question

This question may be a little tmi but what really is on this site? (and that is not a bad thing, actually a great thing, since everyone is so open and non judgemental!)

Ok so my question is... has anyone had oral sex even after they tested positive for h? My bf and I haven't since we have been diagnosed out of fear that we will break out orally. I obviously know to not have oral when either one is having an outbreak of course, but what are the chances when not? I know that we also shred too. I'm just confused... Sorry if this was a little too much lol.

Not tmi but I was also thinking the same question, just wouldve asked if after a while if I hadnt seen a post about it. Hopefully someone can answer this for is lol

Uh - hell yeah! (and nothing is TMI here... it's that way so you can get the answers you need ;) )

 

Well, if you both have the same kind, it shouldn't be an issue. You will already have the antibodies so that gives you some protection and assuming you have HSV1 genital it will shed less too ... but there's always a *small* chance you could get it orally from your partner (likely less than 1% risk)

 

If you have HSV2, it's pretty safe anyway as only 1% of ALL oral H is HSV2 ... it REALLY doesn't like it there.

Oh wow really? Yeah I have type 2. Still trying to cope with it all since its only been 6 months. But I'm getting better day by day. I'm much better than how I was 6 months ago though. Thank you for your help everyone!
