any hopes of herpes cures?

Recommended Posts

This topic is really so very fascinating, I so like to keep up on the very latest medical and technology news. I know someone who is very knowledgeable about research in the medical field, and he knows the politics and b.s. that go into so many questions of funding and research, so I'll send him an email and see what he says about when people can reasonably expect a cure.

Although I don't want to be the one spreadin it around the old folks home so I would like a cure to avoid this!!!!!

Honey - there was a huge scandal about 3-4 yrs ago (maybe a bit more) when it hit the news that "The Villages" in Florida had the highest rates of new STD cases in the state ....so you wouldn't be alone in your status by any means ;)

@whitedaisies

But this is what I know going thru this healing process....still going by the way...lol....we can't expect a cure to "cure" out emotions. We need todo tht on our own. We need to struggle through it, to make us question ourselves, our beliefs, our life so we can come out stronger. A cure cannot do that. A cure when it comes will heal is physically. Expecting it to heal us emotionally is expecting too much from a pill or a needle.

Squeeee! My little Padewan. Do well, you do! Hmmmm???

It's soooo true - a "cure" won't cure the beliefs you have that are limiting who you are in life, and Herpes is just a magnifying glass on them that has made it so you can't ignore it any more.

If you are still struggling 30 yrs later, I suggest that you really try to get to this H Opp weekend. And if you can't do that, PLEASE see about setting up some sessions with Adrial. It's time to let go of whatever you are attached to around the virus, because I can promise you a cure will NOT make it go away ... something else will just come and take it's place. H only forces it to the top. I would place a bet that there is something unrelated to H that you are clinging to... but H has become the convenient scape goat. :/

there is probably a better chance of an accidental cure than a searched for one. ie warfarin was rat poison but because of its blood thinning capabilities it is used for people with blocked arteries. didn't Viagra start as a cholesterol med? ( if it was its own research it was a colossal waste of money and complete proof of big pharma wanting something profitable not helpful). there is something out there, nature has a cure for every disease, the problem may well be we in our hubris destroy its corner of the world before we find it.

Thanks Dancer...I understand and appreciate all you said. For me it is "health anxiety" aka "hypochondria" and as much as I know that I need to work on the anxiety issues, I just know that if I could "get rid" of this virus, I would feel less contaminated. Yes...my anxiety would still be there, it wouldn't change the fact that by nature I am an anxious person. And yes, I would still get anxious about other medical things but I wouldn't have to worry about H. :) And I hate the thought that drug companies might hinder the process of finding a cure because it wouldn't make them enough money. Someone needs to consider the emotional toll...the money spent on counseling, therapy, anti-anxiety meds, etc.

Sorry to sound negative and I don't want to be a downer..I just hope that someone is working on it :)

Yes - you are correct - it worked better for opening the arteries in the nether regions than it did in the area it was meant to help ... :/

Well, you've already "wasted" 35 yrs, as it were, allowing this virus to run your life ... or at least derail it somewhat. I really hope you will continue to work on the hypochondria/anxiety. If anything, USE Herpes as your teacher. I know you may think I'm crazy, but I promise you CAN learn from H. With the right therapist (and with the Hypochondria/Anxiety, you really DO need the right therapist), you can work past the fear and whatnot that comes with H .... it would take a lot of courage and willingness to do it but if you did that and THEN there was a cure it would just be a convenient thing to do.....

Check this Blog out - and perhaps you will understand what I am saying a bit better ;)

And yes there are studies and there ARE researchers who understand and do what they can to get funding for research (it's often piggy-backed onto HIV research both because of the similarity in the viral load issue and because when we have HSV lesions we are more prone to be able to get HIV) ... but many many studies have failed and I know if I had spent the last 35 yrs waiting on a cure I wouldn't have had 3 great post-divorce relationships, might not have had my kids, and certainly wouldn't have had the mostly awesome life that I have had so far.

Don't keep letting this control your life. It's time for YOU to take back control friend ;)
