Is this oral HSV-2?

Grrrrr... why won't they put the actual number onto the paper!?! (not an actual question) Bahhhh! Well, what this also says is that IF I got it from this - and everyone's been suspicious that my symptoms are indicative of HSV - If I got it, it's oral HSV2.

Funny, just saw that yesterday. What's been bugging me for about a week is pretty much spot-on to http://www.yourdentistryguide.com/burning-mouth/ - especially 'The pain or burning sensation is typically mild in the mornings, becoming progressively more intense throughout the day, peaking in the evening and subsiding at night.' - hell, I found this through a search of 'upper mouth pain in evenings'.

I guess I see people post the actual IgG number given... having that that would give a bit more information, I daresay.

I tried live culture yogurt - not for the spot in question, however - that was for the under tongue area (which by the way, as a result of my internet self-doctoring, I'm pretty sure are http://www.justanswer.com/dental/2qft4-several-little-taste-bud-looking-bumps-tongue.html

Didn't do anything with yogurt to the jaw. Heh, did finish the container at breakfast earlier today. I also did a course of Nystatin for 5 days to the spot on the right side/lower jaw...which didn't do much. The spot's very finnicky... not like it's bothering me much but hard to tell if it's going away or staying the same. Didn't give me trouble yesterday or today, really.

Okay, cool, thanks. I guess I wonder - would they give people with, say, 1.4 just a >1.1 result without a number attached to it? In any case... super happy it's where it is.

Now, what is the opinion of the following excerpt from Dr. Handsfield?

3) Probably no HSV testing was necessary, if you had no symptoms of herpes. But the answer is yes: about 80% of new infections would be detected by IgG testing at 5-6 weeks.

4,5) The possibility of false positive results is one of the reasons that HSV testing usually should not be done unless the risk is much higher than yours was, and HSV-1 indeed can lead to false positive HSV-2 results. However, since you didn't have a false positive result this time, it is unlikely to occur in the future. There is no point in speculating about causes or "triggers"; we can cross that bridge if you come to it. Or just avoid the problem entirely by not having another HSV test. - http://www.medhelp.org/posts/STDs/condom-broke-and-genital-herpes/show/2188561

No - they would say its 1.4 or perhaps <1.4

Dr Handsfield is one of the top Herpes specialists in the country ... but I find him to be very rigid in his answers. For instance, he really doesn't believe that Lysine has any benefit :(

What he seems to ignore about the false positive is that we know the range they fall in, and if you are in that range then you can just either re-test or do Western Blot ... IMO it's better to have to deal with the false positives than to keep having 80% of the population that has Herpes in the dark about their status until someone calls them up to tell them they got H from them :/

Well, he's the "expert" so I have to assume he is right there, although everything I have heard says 4 months. And 20% isn't a "small" number ... so I would still say it's best to re-test at 4-6 months .... we have a couple people on here who had a positive swab (but not typed) and they go for the blood test to get typed and it comes back H- 6-9 months after ... which just goes to show how crazy this virus is and how it doesn't follow any strict rules :(
