Different types of medications...

Recommended Posts

I've been doing some research and I'm curious what seems to be working the best for everyone? I'm currently not on any medications, mainly for financial reasons but I'd love some feedback on the medications available for Hsv2. I read about a new drug that is currently still in the works, it reduces SHEDDING by up to 87% along with reduced outbreaks, which sounds very promising. I also read about anti herpetic creams that have greatly reduced outbreaks for some... I'm hoping drugs like that becoming available will ease this H stigma. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. Also I'm not sure if it matters or affects anything but I'm planning to have another child within the next year or so, seems like these medications are pretty safe to take even during pregnancy... ??

Any of the available anti-virals are good - Acyclovir is less expensive but you have to take it twice a day ... but it's done well for me. and yes the anti-virals are ok for pregnancy ... in fact they usually will suggest you go on them for the last month so you can have a vaginal birth..

There are several drugs "in the works" - but then again, there have been several of these "in the works" since I got H in the late 70's .. so my first word of advice is to not hold your breathe or put your life on hold while you wait for one to get passed and on the market.

We've had several conversations about this including a recent one here...

as well as these....
