can shaving cause a herpes outbreak?

I shaved a little bit down stairs and woke up extremely itchy in the area. I shaved between my anal area and vaginal opening. It's a little red I don't see any visable blisters yet. I used h balm on the area hoping that helps.

IMO if u are having nerve issues w h, ur nerves r highly sensitive so a regular itch after shaving can be intensified. At least that what happens to me.

@shocked80 shaving can trigger an outbreak for some people so see how it goes for you. I find that if I use a really sharp razor it's fine, a slightly duller one is more likely to trigger symptoms

@fitgirl if I do get an ob from shaving is that something that will happen everytime or will it go away with time?

@shocked80 no, it shouldn't always happen. I know some people refrain from shaving to avoid the possibility but I found that it was not typically an issue for me as long as I used a lot of shave cream and the fresh razor. I grew up in the 80's and I'm not ready to rock "the bush" again :)

@fitgirl exactly! I haven't shaved my lady parts like normal since my diagnosis in December for fear of an ob. And it's killing me that I have hair... So not used to it.

Yes it makes it difficult to discern what is a prodome or just intensified regular issues.

Well when I went to the bathroom last night I had a long line of irritation almost like a long skin break in the side of my vagina.where the bottom crease meets the leg. I only knew it was there becaused of me going pee and I wiped it and it was tender. Is this a paper cut ob? It's different from the other one I had. Or I wonder if this could be from the hbalm soap I used. Maybe it irritated and dried the skin out causing it to crack.

Likely soap IMO. If u changed soaps it's likely that. Try to moisturize and see what happens.

 

Sometimes we try so many things to help h that we end up creating other issues. Be mindful of ur skin as especially in that area, it is extremely sensitive.

@whitedaises you're right. Since I was diagnosed I started taking a billion supplements and other things. So I think I'm trying to do to much to help instead of trying one or two things at a time to see how they work I cut some of the supplements and am trying to see how my body reacts to the ones I'm currently taking before I add more.

For those who can't deal with a razor at the moment, I'd say try to get clippers and put them on the lowest setting ... so that you can keep the hair very short but not irritate the skin ... once the body gains full control you should be able to go back to shaving over time but this would be a temporary solution :)
