Let This Be the Reason You Define Yourself

Recommended Posts

I have only been diagnosed for a little under a month. But already I have come to terms with the situation. I was lucky enough to have friends and family that were accepting and caring. In my perspective I believe that is what has made the difference. The fact that the people I loved didn't look at me like an infection or like I was a mess. My advice is to find those people. Find someone who will take you as you are. That makes all the difference. Also a little change in your attitude as well. The first thing my mother told me was, "This does not define you, but it may be the reason you define yourself". Let this change your life for the better. There are brighter days.

Great perspective! And yes, H diagnosis is a perfect time to weed out toxic and unloving/unsupportive people from your life .. because anyone who TRULY loves you won't blink when you disclose...they may be anxious or concerned for you, but you will still be the same person to them and they will love you no matter what. Sadly there are many who have a hard time giving up those toxic people ... but that stems from issues that were there loooooong before they got Herpes...
